I'd think Ravi's parents got a lawyer.

So because the young man was, in your words, 'an unstable individual', the roommate shouldn't be charged with invasion of privacy?? I would think that would make the invasion of privacy a much more serious matter, certainly not less.

This guy is going to be fighting criminal charges, are you going to suggest he's not going to try to defend himself?

He's not going to testify, that's his right, and can have his lawyer allege this. The jury doesn't have to believe it. But you doubt he'll defend himself?

Have you ever seen a trial? If you think this will not happen, then I have a bridge in brooklyn to sell to you.

Um, and where did we get the information that his roommate had been picking on him before the whole video thing?

If the roommate knew. I think if the guy's family wants to pursue an invasion of privacy charge, they are entitled to. But saying the roommate is guilty of murder or a hate crime is beyond stupid.
And I'm not sure if someone has sex in a common space that there's really any assumption or guarantee of privacy.

Baascailly if the privacy charge in the stae is as reported then charges should be filed and its a felony. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. That is committed suicide :IMO means he already had problems to take that drastic action.I the least it was a cruel act to film and stream it.

Had he not killed himself (which is not the fault of Ravi) what do you think would have happened, do you think there would ever have been any charges?

So the irrational act of the victim is what determines if there are charges or not?

Like Bent I was small and was bullied at times but I stood up for myself and earned RESPECT. When you show them weakness they'll only do it more. Again,it's not right but it's been going on forever and something needs to start at home along with the schools getting more involved!
Thing is, the bullies look for and pick on those that they see as 'weak' or just different in some way. You're right that if you stand up to a bully and show some strength, they'll back off. But that doesn't mean they'll stop being a bully - they'll just look for another target. They need to be taught at a very young age that bullying is wrong. That there is NO excuse for it.

Goes back to the parents. They have to lead by example.
