I lived for a yr in a small town of a pop of about 4000 people. They had a volunteer FD. I had a small business there and a neighbor business owner had a young son who was one of the volunteers. He carried a portable radio on his person for so many hrs on a rotation schedule. A man at the local parts house/machine shop also was one. If the siren sounded they rushed from all locations to the firehouse where the closest person started the trucks engine. They were unpaid people...still the town survived.
except for the woman going onto emergency welfare, and housing the animals dieing, the county still not recouping their losses. Yea it worked great
The man who owned the house has insurance so she's not going on welfare, the county didn't lose anything so there's nothing to recoup. I feel bad about the pets but they're just that, a pet and millions of them die every year getting hit by cars. The plan worked great, the person next door who paid the fee had their property protected from the spreading fire.
Back you just fail to see the cause and effect. Now the son is in jail, at the counties expense. he should be in jail, The whole thing will cost the city to prosecute the kid, house him, maybe the public defender and it was avoidable.
Backspace, did you call the Calloway County Fire/Rescue yet?
Word on the news tonight is Cranick is debating on whether or not to rebuild. Oh and the other area's in that county that currently have zero fire coverage...the county is trying to get them on a subscription-based system. They don't get it. The subscription system is NOT the way to go. Seems that their local leaders have blinders on. They act:
I don't see a problem with the fee as it is to directed to people that don't give into that tax pool. How ever there needs to be an adequate answer when a home is on fire that allows the fire to be put out and back charge them.
hell we have late fees for library books that you don't pay until you want a book. No reason not to put out a fire.
In fact it's an arsonists dream. The arson investors are paid by the fire dept not the Sheriff. Burn the house, no fire fighter, no investigation, get the insurance.
That's what a wage garnishment is for. Make it clear that you pay $75 up front or $7,500 after the fact and I can guarantee that everyone will send in the money up front. Well, the sane one's anyway. Even more simple, put it in the taxes.
I think that the county should hire the city's fire department for protection and then the county can levy the tax on the property tax. A city entity cannot tax a non city resident.
In fact where is the county in all this. Has anyone heard what they say??
