gays don't even know what they want
they want to be accepted for being different
they team up with other "minority" groups (blacks, trans gendered, etc.)
to protest against the establishment that people don't accept them.
but, if everyone accepted them as they are then they would be in the norm which would be contradictory to the entire gay lifestyle.
Wow religious right, haven't heard that term in ages, a blast from the past. Next the poster will be talking about the moral majority. The religious right are about as relevent.
No, it actually doesn't. Please provide a source for this interesting interpretation of the constitution.
What is your highest level of educational attainment? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm asking you so I know exactly how far back and how in depth I need to go.
Edited for: If you feel that this is a threatening type of question then at least let me know your highest level of political science and history courses. Because I have other crap to do then write an essay for you. This way I can peg by way of state what was included in your course of study.

Exactly! Marriage is religious, a union that is held in the eyes of God. It's been bastardized by modern society which has chipped away at the meaning of it. People who hold religious beliefs (Jews, Christians, Muslims (95% of the world)) on both sides, left and right, understand that to call a same sex union "marriage" goes agaisnt those beliefs.
This is why pro-gay activists have to remove religion from anything and everything. It's those pesky God believing wackos that keep them from getting everything they want.
SO--make EVERYONE get a civil union to cover the legal aspects of what we call marriage now--why shouldn't EVERY AMERICAN have the same rights to that legal contract--that's what it is. Marriage, as it legally stands now, spells out who can make emergency decisions for you, it determines your tax status, and who can be on your health insurance policy--the list goes on. Abolish being "married" as a legal status under the government, and make it a religious ceremony only. If marriage is entirely religious, as you stated, doesn't it rub against your grain that atheists can get "married" too?
If that was the case, you would be free to get "married" or not "married" in a faith based ceremony of your choosing. If it's a union held in the eyes of God, that's what matters, right? It has nothing to do with the government or laws.
For the record--my church (Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ) has no problem with gay marriage. I'm just as much of a Christian as you are. My pastor is a lesbian--she's been with her partner for almost 25 years. Someone said it earlier--just as the constitution protects my freedom to practice my faith, it also protects me from other people forcing me to follow THEIR religious beliefs. I'm a Christian, and I quite simply don't believe what you believe. My church isn't the only one--many MAINLINE protestants are supportive of gay marriage. What you're trying to do is not only force people to follow Christian beliefs, but to follow FUNDAMENTALIST Christian beliefs. Don't you see a problem with that?

Lol, you can stop the posing. The establishment clause simply put, prohibits the government from establishing a state religion. I'd be happy to explain to you why it is there. There is no right to freedom from religion. Suppose I am walking down the street sayng a prayer out loud. You have no right not to be exposed to it. You have no right not to be exposed to religious symbols. Simply put there is no right that grants you freedom from religion.
Now if you are arguing that you have a right to to practice a religion, of course and there is no danger that someone will make you.
