There's a rumor that NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg will be the next Secretary of the Treasury.

'Serious Insider' Tells CNBC's Kudlow NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg Next Treasury Secretary (http://www.businessandmedia.org/articles/2010/20101001143219.aspx - broken link)

Is New York City so fiscally solvent that it would indicate Bloomberg would be a good choice? Are businesses leaving the city or staying? What are the taxes like there? Is their budget in a hole or doing swell? I read the unemployment rate in August there was 9.4%.

"At that time, Mr. Bloomberg's budget officials estimated the deficit for the fiscal year beginning in July 2011 to be more than $3.7 billion."

Lastly, if you were the Mayor of NYC would you give up that job to be the Secretary of The Treasury (maybe for 2 years if Obama isn't re-elected)?
