Before the wingnuttery starts, let me note that 1) I wasn't AT the One Nation rally and don't know why the place was messy; 2) the Daily Show is asking people to bring an extra garbage bag (there are only so many garbage cans on the mall); and 3) the are also asking for donations to mall preservation.
It will be interesting to watch. If I lived in DC I would probably attend every rally, as a spectator, not my style to join in on mobs or rallies or whatever. I doubt if 300,000 will show though. I'd be surprised with 50,000 honestly.
I do like John Stewart, not so much Colbert. But they are both comedians, so how seriously can it be taken?
There won't be 300K at the rally, the numbers will probably be close to if not more than Beck's rally and it will dwarf the communist labor union rally that was just held.
I did not think the rally was supposed to be a liberal one. I thought it was a rally for those in the middle that were not extreme left or right and feel that neither party is attempting to represent them.
They'd probably get more attendance if they'd hold these things more centrally, like Kansas City, or Tulsa.
And didn't Colbert willfully surrender his credibility, along with that of Congress last September? Stewart will just spend the whole day dragging his reputation out of the muck Colbert creates.
