Nothing wrong with regulation if it's needed and it's good. It's when we see the gov't encouraging lending to people that don't qualify that we have problems.
Strict regulation doesn't equate to anti-conservatism. Conservative lending practices is what keeps banks healthy. It was liberal lending practices that hurt the banking community. If you don't have the credit to get a loan - you simply shouldn't get one. Liberals cried foul and now our banking & housing began a fall that we haven't been able to get out of. This is NOT to say that it is all their fault. Our so-called "Conservatives" (really just wolves in sheep's clothing) helped this landslide along by putting us in tremendous debt themselves.

I think they call it "Convenient Conservatism". Basically, if we do it, it's OK.
Awwww...some rednecks couldn't afford a house and the banks didn't want to give them the money. Interesting that progressives are pointing this out as if it's a bad thing. Of course, they're probably puzzled because they believe it's OWED to them and that banks should be forced to give them free money.
Wild lending was required to keep the real estate Ponzi scheme running. The manipulators at the top made far more money than the house flippers on the bottom. The big guys are still making money off the fraud.
There is a huge difference between deregulation and coerced lending practices. The housing crash was mainly due to the Dems and ACORN throwing a hissy fit that people with bad credit and no job can't own a mcmansion. Nice Liberal Policies that worked like a charm eh?

Wild lending was pushed forward by the Clinton Administration. ACORN and the Left threw hissy fits and walked into bank meetings with baseball bats and demanded them to loan the losers hundreds of thousands of dollars. Nice Liberal policy eh? Worked out well didn't it?
