If one stays with a good discount store (Aldis is great - no frills - no neon - bag it yourself) people don't have to omit their snacks. And no one has the right to tell them they do. Fraud is a whole different wax ball.
Now you may have hit on something I might agree with. I could go along with FS only being accepted at places like Aldi's or Sav-A-Lot. No brand name items, only store brands, so then all stores could accept FS. Now let's hear how generic, store brands are crap.

Currently so called "energy drinks" are prohibited on FS - it wouldn't be that BIG an ask to also include candy and soft drinks, and I think just those TWO junk items would free up a LOT of FS benefits for other actual foods.

So why should FS recipients be denied pizza? Just because it's available at Pizza Hut? That doesn't make much sense...other food in other restaurants can't be purchased with FS either.

I don't think that the frozen pizzas in the grocery stores are even that expensive.

You missed the point. Go back and read.

Forget it...I will explain. People would be upset if you could go to Pizza Hut and buy a double pepperoni and extra cheese with FS, but it's ok to buy the same kind of pizza at a grocery with FS.

Some are. But NOT at Aldis. We've been shopping there since we started on food stamps. And truthfully we do go to Wal-Mart for just a few items we can't get at Aldis. Good packaged lunch meat and the cheese is much less expensive. Insulin for our dog also. There are responsible alternatives. One just need be responsible.

We do 98% of our shopping at Aldis.

So? People would be upset if you went to a bakery and bought a chocolate cake et al with FS, but it's okay to buy the same kind of cake with FS.

Same thing with a lot of other types of food.

I like the generic brands idea!!! And it would be so easy to enforce.

O.K. enforcer could people on FS be given a $40 - $45 dollar per month allowance at places such as Wal-Mart?

Some things you just don't want to buy at Aldis. But not much. We get 98% of our food from Aldis.

Our WalMart doesn't even sell food except for 2 isles of chips, crackers, candy, soda and other crap. How come people can't ever think or see beyond their own little world? You can't limit it to certain chains of stores that don't even exist everywhere. Any grocery store is fine, their FS will go farther at some places than others but that isn't my, or YOUR, problem.

If you try to control someones personal food budget because they benefit from tax money then you will have to do it for everyone...FS is just ONE thing taxes pay for and other things benefit everyone. Hmmm.

Well I was just being a smart ass. It's hard to fathom a place not having a Super Wal-Mart. That Wal-Mart is way behind. And in California. Wow.
