Gallup: 54% of Likely Voters say they are Conservative (Ron Paul, Congress, Glenn Beck)

Likely Voters Demographically Typical, but Skew Conservative

Gallup's recent modeling of the vote for Congress finds 54% of likely voters identifying themselves as politically conservative, while moderates are in conspicuously short supply compared with recent midterms. Also, Republicans make up a larger share of the electorate in Gallup's initial 2010 likely voter pool -- greater than their 1994 share -- than do Democrats, and the gap is even more pronounced once the leanings of independents are taken into account.

This is an unprecedented and incredible number and if it holds for the election, the wave will be a tsunami.

Remember, the biggest lead the GOP had in any generic ballot was 5 points in 1994, 49/44 prior to the midterm, where they picked up 56 seats in the House. Today, it is 57/39.

Maybe obama and biden should step up their scolding/berating/browbeating of their base?

Gallup's first sketch of what the electorate may look like on Nov. 2 indicates that the enthusiasm gap favoring Republicans all year -- as well as the "thought" gap evident in a late August survey -- may well translate into highly disproportionate turnout among Republicans and conservatives on Election Day.

But we really don't have a get out the vote effort like we did in 2002 and 2004, which kind of worries me. Hopefully, these people are so fired up they don't need to be prodded and reminded to come out and vote.

The conservative movement in America is amazing to watch. It is growing rapidly.

Liberalism is a shrinking dying thing in America while you are seeing the a large of people move from being liberal and independent to being conservative.

Numbers show that the liberals in America are shrinking ( was 24% now 20% during Obamas watch ) and I think a lot of it has to do with the gift that keeps on giving in the WH.

Oh please most Americans have no clue what it means to be a conservative, even if it bit them in their obese fat arse. There is only one person that is a true Republican conservative and that man is Ron Paul. The Republicans are fascists and the Democrats are socialists. Neither represent true fiscal conservatism. Who says because you're a conservative you have to support the military industrial complex and endless wars? How many of these so called "conservatives" wholeheartedly support the war on terror? How man of these so called conservatives support the pillaging and plundering of the US economy through state corporatism dressed up as free market capitalism.

Most of the so called "conservatives" are just as confused as any liberal. If America wants to see real change they will have to vote in REAL leaders and people that stand for something. As long as people laugh at guys like Ron Paul and call him a kook and a whackjob (ala Glenn Beck when Paul was running for President) America will continue to sink into chaos and crisis.

I would estimate atleast 20% of those polled don't even know the true meaning of the word!

But hey if it helps in November then great.

Conservatives were at 46% in 1998, and the Republicans lost seats..

Conservatives were at 42% in 2002, yet the Pubs picked up seats..

The connection you're trying to make is not always there.

Anyway, I find it hard to believe that after all this time, the amount of conservatives in the American electorate has increased that dramatically. We see no such shift of that magnitude looking at recent history

Well, Republican voters were disappointed they did not totally bankrupt and destroy this country in Bush years, even second Bush term, so now is your chance. Hail Corporatist Rule!

I love how the lefties who bash real news outlets like Fox News call up leftwing blogs like Huffington to support their failing party.

People are starting to realize they were lied to by Obama and his handlers and made a terrible, terrible mistake in giving a committed marxist the keys to the White House.
