How convenient! Rangel and Waters' House ethics hearings scheduled after the mid-term elections.

Michelle Malkin » How conveeeenient: Post-elex Rangels/Waters trials scheduled

http://content.usatoday.com/communit...xine-waters-/1

Ethics trials for two veteran Democrats will be held after midterm elections for Congress, the House ethics committee has just announced.
The hearing for Rep. Charles Rangel, D-NY., accused of 13 violations of House rules, will be held Nov. 15. The trial of Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., is slated for Nov. 29.

The announcement by Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., who chairs the ethics panel, rejects a request by Republicans on the panel, who last week called for the public trials to be held before Nov. 2.

Guess Democrats don't think that voters have a right to know what has been found out about any possible ethical violations prior to casting their ballot. No, couldn't have that. Is this what Pelosi meant by cleaning up the swamp?

I agree, hold them before, as long as every Republican that holds office is there as well as every Dem.

Oh wait they need to campaign too.

Instead of pundits complaining about the symptoms of a problem, lets get to the root of it.

Lack of term limits on legislators.

Lack of campaign spending limits.

Instead of people voting based on campaign commercials, vote based on legislators voting records vs. their campaign promises.

These politicians won't hold the hearings because they need to be campaigning.

Do you honestly believe that Republicans would not use the same ploy if the situation was completely reversed?

The House and Senate should not recess to campaign when they have failed to finish the business at hand in the session, I agree. They also failed to resolve the tax issue which causes a cluster-mess in January for everyone producing or receiving a paycheck or attempting to prepare tax returns. And, they failed to pass a balanced budget, a primary responsibility, while passing a plethora of other legislation.

Then main point is that when there are ethics charges on representatives facing elections the public has a right to know before the election, not afterward, as to what has been found. It is not as though these charges were just filed yesterday.

Default More transparency! House ethics hearings scheduled AFTER mid-term elections.

Just a method to use the trials as political fodder against the mean ol' Republicans.

While I can't say I'm in the least bit surprised, this kind of sleazy politics makes me sick. I guess it's more important for "their guy" to win the election before the public catches wind of their ethics violations.

Reminds me of the John Stroger debacle in Chicago. The family and campaign kept secret the true extent of the elder Stroger's medical conditions resulting from his stroke until after he secured his position as the democratic nominee for Crook County Board President. It was a backdoor tactic to get his son Todd Stroger to take his position after he resigned.

Seeing as how it's indefensible, I doubt any of them will comment. However, some of them do have a strange habit of defending the indefensible, so who knows?

Pelosi is such a joke and so are all the crooked people in congress. If this had been 2 republicans the democrats would be crying foul so loudly and the liberal news media would have it plastered everywhere. Typical liberal hypocrisy.
