The English Defence League, a far-right grouping aimed at combating the "Islamification" of British cities, has developed strong links with the American Tea Party movement.
Sounds like some Brits are getting fed up with the encroaching Islamification happening in their country. I wonder why? Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance after all.

The English Defence League are a front group of the British National Party, which is openly neo-fascist, anti-black, homophobic, and, despite their support of Israel, anti-Semitic (and for the conservatives here, their economic views are WAY to the left of the Labour Party or the US Democratic Party). The BNP doesn't even like whites with roots outside the British Isles although it has some members of white non-British and non-Irish descent. The EDL admits whites of all Euro backgrounds, but was set up by the BNP to include those whites who agree with their views who might have the "wrong" descent as well as the "right" descent, just like the KKK's front group, the White Citizens' Council, was set up to include Catholics who had the Klan's views but whose religion disqualified them from being Klan members.
I would not want to be associated with them at all and I would hope that the tea party does not want to be associated with them.

On economic and environmental issues, they'd be considered "liberal" in the US sense. They are openly racist and on law and order and police power issues they are on the right.
Most of their voters are former Labour voters who are fans of the welfare state and "sticking up for the little guy" as long as the "little guy" isn't black, Asian, Jewish, gay, or Muslim.
