Instead of childishly 'keeping score' and trying to one-up the other party, why don't we admit that both sides of the isle have been absolutely miserable when it comes to spending? Stop this stupid partisan fighting, are we 3 year olds yelling about who gets the last cookie or adults trying to save our country?

The problem is hard-core partisan politicians putting their parties above what is actually good for the country, not democrats or republicans.

OP - people like you are the reason this country is in such bad shape. Politicians play to hard core partisanship instead of the actual needs of the people because that is what people like you want.

Replace the lable for president with who actually controlled spending (Congress) and you'd see a very different picture. It was, is , and always will be the Democrats who spend out of control.

Do you know the President has the power of the veto? If the President using the power of the veto Congress must have a 2/3 majority to override it. The President CLEARLY has the upper hand in terms of approving a budget.

What is AMAZING is the lengths the Republican voters will go to ignore the past behavior of Republican Presidents.

Granted Obama has run up the deficit but it's totally disingenuous to ignore the behavior or past Republican Presidents.

IMO this is only helping the GOP to get stronger. Thanks for your facts:

1. It went up due to 9/11 and the war on terror, delivered to us by muslims flying planes into buildings and killing over 3000 people, due to Clinton being to lame to pull the trigger on Osama Bin Laden when he had the chance!

2. Why didn't you put in Obama's 2 years of spending? Where you affraid it would go off the chart...because that is what it is...and that for NO reason, since unemployment went up higher then with all his hot air promisses...

If you want this country to be ruined even more, keep doing what you are doing and if you still have a job...I wonder how much longer? Stop whining when employers don't want you any more because you are too expensive to pay for...but I guess you don't mind to get some unemployment and food stamps, part of creating job according to Pelosi...
If you had any interest in an honest, objective discussion on this issue you would cite the fact the President Obama had to institute an $800 billion stimulus package and is dealing with the greatest economic downturn since the Great Depression PLUS the two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which were started BY President George W. Bush Jr. Historically i.e. the Great Depression and the Recession of the early 1980's the federal government has run up deficits to stimulate the economy and keep an economic downturn from worsening. This has been done under a Democratic President F.D.R and a Republican President Ronald Reagan.

But you have no such interest in an objective discussion. You just want to a one sided discussion Republican = Good, Democrats = Bad.

I get it.

Well then I am sure you will cut GW slack for the worst terrorist attack on American soil ever and its effect on the deficit.

Congress sends the budget to the President and he either signs it or vetoes it. A President can control the budget process simply by threatening to veto a budget not to his liking. Ultimately through the power of the veto the President is the ultimate arbiter of budgetary spending for the federal government.
