This would be more accurate if it said, "Americans cower in fear over Islam"
Never in this history of this nation have so many been so afraid of so little. All it takes is for some buffoon to shout terrorist and half the population runs for a prison cell begging the jailer to lock them up to keep them safe, and while they are at it, take my life savings, bug my phone, read my mail, bankrupt the nation, and buy more bullets for some other persons kid to go fight this criminal organization that if you collected them all together in a single pile wouldn't equal the number of pills Rush Limbaugh swallowed in the past two years.
Proof of fear, well terrorist spent less than an estimated half billion dollars in their efforts and for their investment, they have taken the worlds largest superpower and had its entire social fabric changed, its people living in fear, its military stretched to the breaking point and its economy on the edge.
Feel free to be afraid, as fear is America's largest export these days so if you are going to excel, might as well be #1 Just sorry I won't be joining you as I won't let these bozo's win.
I wonder though, do you think they (liberals running media in Denmark) would do that again given the backlash they received from it?
There were two print runs. One was the first newspaper (Jyllands-Posten), triggering a lot of internal Danish debate and a pretty serious backlash. When news of a planned terror attack in retribution came out, all major Danish newspapers printed the drawings, to make the point. Actions louder than words and all that. (Of couse not much would have happened in the first place had not the Danish imam Abu Laban, who is a rabble-rouser of the highest order, decided to tour the Middle East with the drawings to gain a bit of fame for himself. May he live long and never attain the influence he seeks.)
That being said, I think a good chunk of the US political spectrum is seriously overselling the dangers of Islamism in the US for their own purposes - it's not just imams who know how to tell their audience what they like to hear. Major parts of the US electorate and media is not approaching the problem of radical Islam in anything resembling a rational manner.
Europe, on the other hand, has faced terrorism before (IRA, Red Army Fraction, Baader-Meinhof, Basque separatists etc. etc.) and Islamist terrorism still constitutes a very small percentage of terrorist attacks. (As a WWII vet said after the London attacks: "We've been bombed by a better grade of bastard than that.")
It's not a liberal/conservative schism in the US, it's rational/irrational.
We're either going to start exercising our rights of free speech (among others), or they're going to shove Sharia Law down our throats. Tolerance of your fellow man's differences are one thing, but...
A Muslim co-owns Fox news, does this mean the Islamists will eventually run this channel as they do with the Fox news channel in Turkey?
Not quite sure what that has to do with the thread topic; ADD kickin' in?
