The government had to give themselves a pay raise so there wasn't any left over for us. And it's not just legislators. Obama is pushing for a 1.4% increase for all federal employees for 2011. Vote against EVERY incumbent.

How come the republicans didn't threaten to filibuster the pay raise, like they did every other bill in the last two years? Oh well, at least there was one bipartisan legislative action taken by congress.

They're all useless. Vote them out! Every one!

No automatic COLA raises for Congress - UPI.com

snopes.com: Social Security COLA Increases

And, in any case, a COLA increase is automatic for Congress, just as it is for Social Security and VA benefits.

Y'all DO know what COLA stands for, don't you?
sorry, I don't know about this year, but yes, they did get raises last year. I do not remember how much but they got them... The catch word here I think is automatic...

Read the snopes link I posted. They did not take the COLA in 2009.

In 2008, we ALL got a COLA. Congress was no different than the recipients of VA or SS payments.

Do you begrudge the rest of us our COLA in 2008 as well?

I have voted against incumbents. It does no good. They are ALL losers.

There was a COLA every year Bush was in office, because we had inflation.
Then why did Congress vote itself a raise?

No inflation? Bwahahahahahaha!!!! That's why gold is on a tear nearing 1,400/oz, silver 24/oz, oil back up to 82/barrel, commodities through the roof, dollar through the floor, food/energy costs rising steadily.

I guess senior citizens buy a house, laptop and iPhone with every SS check. Those seem to be the only assets deflating.

Of course there's no inflation..they remove food and energy from that equation.
Everyone knows that food and energy don't count and aren't necessary to live.
