If your congressman or senator looses in this election how many do you think will go home to the districts and states they so vigorously claimed they loved and how many will stay in Washington and become lobbyists?

I actually asked mine this in a letter this summer as he is planning on retiring. "For the foreseeable future he plans on residing in Tennessee and spending time with his family and taking up a position in the private sector". Of course, who knows what that private sector is, and whether it is with a lobbying group remains to be seen. Guess I'll just have to bid the fastest man in Congress farewell. (recently beat a man 33 years his junior in a foot race) Yeah, its not much, but around here, its all we got.

Maybe they'll go to Cuba?

Dunno, but seeing as we got Rahmbo back, I'm not too happy.

Most members of Congress have law degrees most from top tier law schools they also are bar members in their homes states and guess what in the District of Columbia and for good measure Virginia or Maryland and guess what you can get a law license to bring a lawsuit in the great state of Delaware. So they can get into lobbying , corporate legal offices or practices in a state like Delaware that sets the tune for America's corporate and financial laws. So a Congressman gets far more wealth and power by being voted out of Congress. So once get over the ego ding by losing the future for them is so bright they will need shades.
Ask Tom Dashcle or Rick Santorum.

After they stop whining, they can organize a support group. Don't know how much good it will do though. People in those groups are supposed to listen and be supportive of each other and as we all know, politicians are self-centered narcissists.

One has already announced his retirement and we think he may make a run for governor next. Another will either retire or become a lobbyist.

I can say that our state is so bad about lobbyists that they tried to get it passed to wait a minimum of one year before coming one and they couldn't get it through.

I think there will be non-stop fund-raising for their return to office.

I have noticed this trend over the years. "of members of Congress who left office between 1998 and 2004, 43 percent went on to become lobbyists - 42 percent of ex-House members and 50 percent of ex-Senators". Bill Moyers Journal . CONGRESSIONAL ETHICS | PBS

I have watched politicians go on the stump and claiming how much they love their district/state they are from, then as soon as they loose they don't go home. they become lobbyists.
