I voted #3...I would not prefer an atheist, but it would not be the deciding factor in how I vote. If the atheist was a moral person whom I generally agreed with on most issues, I'd have no problems voting for them.
I wouldn't be shocked if our current President was an atheist. I wouldn't be shocked if he wasn't the first person in that office to pretend piety for votes. What makes religious belief in a President important, though, is that it is nearly impossible to understand what Rights truly are without believing that they derive from being human creations of a divine being. Not impossible, but nearly so. Besides, I kinda like knowing that my leaders believe they'll face consequences for their misdeeds at some point beyond the ballot box. Know what I mean?
Either of those extremes would be damaging. A guy that doesn't believe in God would fall victim to his own beliefs as much as a guy that puts ALL his faith in God.

Couldn't care less. I also wouldn't care if he/she was Jewish or Muslim, so long as he/she is a decent, upstanding citizen who is motivated to do best for the country and is well-qualified for the job. Last I checked, we had separation of church and state around here.
As long as they're not a rabid atheist, telling anyone religous that they're stupid or crazy, and they live by the morals taught by the bible (even though the refuse to admit that's where morals came from) then it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. Believe whatever you want as long as you're not an about it.

I figure you're referring to either Michael Moore or Bill Maher, in which case I say let them run so they can get slaughtered like the arrogant pigs that they are.

Reason: language
Morals and ethics do not exist for those that have no good book to cling on, to look for a guide to the right way, to be socially acceptable in life.
Yeah, without your "book" I'm sure most of you would be out raping and pillaging and stealing and coveting their neighbor's wife...
A lot are even with that "book" - divorce rate at over 50%; religious make up most of that.

Actually, 'morals' did not originate with the bible. Most of the 'morals' of the bible were stolen from older civilizations anyway.
Slaughtered like the arrogant pigs they are??? Wow, how 'Christian' of you
