Then (once again) that is not letting the Bush tax cuts expire, and (once again) that is playing the class warfare card.

Let them expire for everyone, if you want them to expire for one class of taxpayer. Otherwise, let them all be extended.

Otherwise, to be charitable, you aren't consistent.

I don't want a party to care if I live or die. I certainly don't want any politician to care if I live or die.

You guys don't get it do you?

Now I will tell you a story naming names, dates and places.

Bucyrus, Ohio in the early 1990's was home to Baja Boat which manufactured boats some being very large and luxurious. They started in the very early 1980s's with just a few people but all during the wicket 90's they grew eventually having 980 employees on the payroll. They grew so much the town actually vacated streets so the company could add on manufacturing space.

These jobs were good jobs, average pay was $12.00 an hour for factory workers. To put the pay into perspective what cost $12.00 in 1990 would cost $19.53 in 2008.

On top of this all employees and their families were provided with company paid health insurance.

If a company wanted to add 900 workers paying $19.53/hr with fully paid family medical insurance I wonder if they would get any applications?

Then, in a grand stand play of getting even with em, congress passed the 10% luxury tax (the left and workers of the world rejoiced, they would finally get even with rich people) and it did three things.

It cost Bush the reelection, people immediately stopped buying boats and employment at Baja Boats went from 980 to 8 in six months.

And the left rejoiced, those democrats really showed the republicans on that one!

Pass this sort of garbage and you will see what manufacturing business we do have left leave for overseas.

Who would have ever thought Red China would be more business friendly?

All of them? If the cuts will not be extended intact, then even those making under 250k can expect some surprises. There are complexities within the code that are not obvious. Congress has waited too long to tackle this at this late date.

The cuts need to be extended exactly as they are at least for the next year to avoid mass confusion as the expiration date approaches. If Congress does nothing before January 1, everyone will be very very unhappy with our leader. Would you rather have all our taxes increased at every level or have the "rich" keep their cuts as well as the rest of us keeping ours?

Non-partisan CBO Director Elmendorf says this:

Ezra Klein - CBO: Extending the Bush tax cuts will hurt the economy, reduce incomes

'...As you can see,
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezr...utseconomy.png
and as Elmendorf said, "Either a full or a partial extension of the tax cuts through 2012 would reduce income by much less than would a full or partial permanent extension." So the bottom line is that extending the tax cuts indefinitely would hurt the economy. The less you extend the tax cuts, the less damage you do to the economy. And this goes for both the Democrats and the Republicans, whose tax cut plans are much more similar to each other's than to a plan that doesn't extend the tax cuts, or extends them only for a couple of years. Proof... Clinton's 3% tax hike boosted the economy...
