Every experience I have had with giving homeless food or just a little money has been met with "GOD BLESS YOU MA'AM" or similar. The only time a homeless man turned me down was when I tried to hand him an icecold canned drink in the hot sun, he told me he already had enough to go get a meal for himself.

Just saying if the Usa claims to be a chrsitian nation, play the part.(fyi,I don't think the Usa was founded on christian principles, but that's another argument.)
Who has said "lets take aid away from the poor" ? I hear this over and over , OK zombies ...
Name the Christians who want to stop aid to the poor !

The vast majority of Americans blindly idolize the troops even when they willingly go fight unjust wars for the Man (not bashing all troops here, just saying you can't totally absolve them of responsibility, especially if they joined post-2001).

Many if not most Americans believe that if you trespass, you deserve to die for it if the land owner wants to kill you, even if you're not threatening them and start running away. And I'm sure many Americans would think the death penalty is a suitable punishment for illegal immigrants.

IDK, it's just plain sick to me. And I'm an American!! Maybe my generation will be different?
How much did you give to the poor ?

You may be providing health care, but the rest of your statement is not true. Hospitals are only required to provide emergency care for free; for everything else you will get a bill. There are few "free clinics", and most of those do not provide care beyond primary care, in other words, no specialists if you have a problem they can't treat.

In Phoenix our food banks are broke & they have been asking for donations for weeks.
Where is the charity? People are having hard times & those who gave before may not be able to now.
Without programs like food stamps, some parents wouldn't be able to feed their children.
Many who 'have' do not understand the average person hurting in these times & demonize programs like welfare.
I have read many posts on CD wanting to Stop all programs to help.
This is not a conservative/liberal problem.
This is America today.

The thread is titled "Will Americans ever become more compassionate?"

The responses included telling the OP to move to another country and insulting practically every thought they wrote line by line.

The answer is NO. Americans hate each other just like they hate the world. They are so unhappy they unconsciously direct their rage to whatever the group is that the media tells them to despise. They blame others for their lot in life even though that lot in life is pretty good. And woe be the person who says things could be better for they will be directed to the nearest exit.

What happened to a country called the UNITED States that it became so full of isolated, ignorant, paranoid, angry people? We all know the answers but we bury them in the dark recesses of our minds. Instead of looking at these causes, we need to cure ourselves of this affliction NOW.

Victims should learn how to stop contributing to their circumstances. Perpetrators need to learn how they are really doing it to themselves.

No one is stupid. Newt Gringrich wants to cut the food stamp program. And those repubs who voted not to extend unemployment a month or two ago. Let's not forget about the health care bills which would have helped the poor and middle class the most. Do you need more examples or what?

Hospitals in my area still send you a bill if you were in the Er. If you get cancer and need radiation, you can't get that in the Er,so you would be out of luck.

I rarely come across anyone like "all the people you know " . Meet new people . I will only give to one Church , I know and trust them to give all of my donation to people who need it.
People abuse "free" government handouts and politically connected people taking when they are not poor makes me lack trust .
I hope you and the people you know "cure yourselves of this affliction NOW."
I will give quietly , as do many.

Ui because the corporation was greedy and the eployee got downsized and hasn't found work in 2 years? Right
I think you are uninformed, no politician that I am aware wanted to cut food stamps to the poor or not extend unemployment.
