Which means they arent asking that much out of line. The asking price is $150M, but thats a negotiation, the will probably end up around $120M, which will put the cost in line with ABC/ESPN etc..
I don't know. Fox should offer more channels for that amount I think. Maybe a 2nd FX or movie channel.

That is true and even if they cut off the channel on cable or satellite, it is still possible to get it the old fashioned way with an antenna and it actually looks good in digital.
News Corp pulled Fox Broadcasting and other Fox & News Corp affiliated channels off Cablevision. Cablevision is one of the major cable providers in the NYC metro (NY, NJ & CT), its the largest provider here on Long Island ( I have Verizon Fios, so I'm not impacted). Cablevision is also a provider in the Philly area (though don't think they are that big there, but some are impacted)
The previous deal between News Corp and Cablevision expired. Cablevision previously paid News Corp $70 million to air their programming. News Corp is now demanding $150 million from Cablevision to air the same programming they were previously charging $70 million for.
Did they ever settle the dispute with food network characters doing the same thing? Last time I came for visit a few channels were missing and the saber rattling was looking at $20+ increases per month per customer. Three cheers for privatization of public air waves.
Nothing wrong, but it will just be passed on to the viewer...
No it gets passed onto non viewers as well because cablevision is a package deal. They want to increase revenue not by managing in house or selling adverts, but by gouging a caged audience that has no option of rabbit ears or selective payment of channels.
Nope, again if it the inconvenience is too great you can cancel cable and use your alternate arrangement.
Fox is the inconvenience and needs to be dropped. Let them create their own distribution system because disrupting the rest doesn't work for the rest of the customers or vendors. Enough is enough.
Then I guess if people want News Corp they will pay for it. Simple!
Would be very fair if FOX viewers bore the brunt of that cost alone. Note that not one of them defending FOX greed has offered to pay their own bill. Let's see them cough up 150 mill. hahahaha
If News Corp has a superior product they should be able to demand a higher premium.
They can demand anything they want. Nobody has to necessarily meet their demand. I'm sure they'll reach a settlement somewhere between $75 million and $150 million and Cablevision will jack up its subscription fees. Since "They can demand a higher premium" for carrying Fox.

Which is B.S. because the dispute is over free over the air channels that you can receive over the air...
