I find him entertaining. I also found Captain Kangaroo entertaining. I used to like watching Bill O'reilly, believe it or not. Then I found out he couldn't keep it in his pants. Kind of turned me off. BILL YOU WERE MINE AND MINE ALONE.
Any person that lives where hurricanes hits has one.
Heck I keep 2 liter coke bottles for hurricane season. I fill them with water and freeze them. They can stay frozen for over a week. Much better then making ice cubes
But I dont see the big deal. He made a commercial. Should we do away with all commercials?
I listed to Beck 5 days/wk on the radio , I like him . You must admit this is a funny (Beckie) thing to sell.
How will he keep his ice cream cold is my question .
I did buy some Gold BTW.
"Dude, it's like, the Apocalypse and stuff and I need some beans..."
"Whacha got for trade?"
"I've got these gold coins."
"No seriously, whacha got for trade?"
"Um these coins are worth a lot."
"Can you eat them?"
"ermmm.. no."
"Can you plant them?"
"No."
"Can you use them to kill a rabbit?"
"No."
"Come back with something that is worth something next time, pal. You! There! With the stack of pelts and the 3 dozen eggs! You're up!"

How much is gold worth? How much is a rock with a hole in it worth? No, seriously, whacha think?
Good point indeed. My wife has been a believer in stocking up on Gold and Silver, but I have grave doubts about them in a world crises (I mean, how do you cut an ounce of gold, etc).
I stock up on Food and Whiskey. When push comes to shove, I believe Whiskey will be worth its weight, err, in gold.
I do have to keep sampling the whiskey to make sure it has not 'gone bad'. As soon as I get off work I think I must test the bottles again.
Actually, being prepared for any eventuality is just good sense. I have my grab-n-go bag in my car. Something happens I'm not going to be standing around, wringing my hands, waiting for help.
Heck, if I was really hard-pressed I could walk right now with what's in just my shoulder bag: passport, money, good quality knife, toothbrush, change of underwear, three power bars, and spare contact lenses.

Then cry to the government for help because you were unprepared. I could see it now. I bet if you were in LA during Katrina, you'd be one of the people on their roof with a giant help sign spelled out on the roof.
Beck fancies himself the modern day Robert Welch. Just look at Beck's philosophies and those of the Birch Society, you will see they are pretty much the same. Beck, has simply commercialized it, quite successfully.

You might be saying the same thing about me one day. When I'm not in Iraq, I live in Seattle. It's part of the Pacific Ring of Fire.
Apocalypse survival kits. Yes, seriously.
For when, you know, hell freezes over and complete chaos breaks out, you'll be prepared! I though this was a joke but in fact yes, it's 100% legit.
how old are you? survival kits get sold every time there is a down turn in the economy. they were being pushed in the early 70s on through the mid 80s. then again in the late 90s up through about 2003.
its not just beck that sells these things, many people sell them.
There's nothing wrong with having emergency supplies on hand in case of a disaster. I guess the next Katrina we get some people might be prepared for it, instead of waiting for the government to come and help them and then criticizing everyone for how long the response time was.
