Now if you are not a Christian please don't open either of these links because you won't like to see what is in them. However, if you are a Christian but don't like Bush maybe you need to open and read them. The Urban Legends link tells the story as it happened and the Snopes link includes Bruce Vincent's article with their judgement. According to Vincent, Bush turned out to be much better as a human being than he expected him to have been.
What policies have failed? A stimulus that came from the last President that was continued by this one. A healthcare policy that hasn't really started yet, but already has insured more people than there were before. Auto bailouts that actually worked (the only money we aren't getting back from the auto industry was given to them by the Bush administration, all of that given by the Obama administration has been paid back).
What failed policies, exactly, and how did they fail.

When the deficit so far for THIS YEAR is over 1 trillion $ no matter what this administration did it's a total fail! 2 years were more than enough to get us out of the crisis with some smart policies. (in Central Europe there was barely any recession and now most of the countries will be on growth because we have good leadership)
But when you spend so much and the unemployment is huge...

'...The pope worked tirelessly to convince leaders of nations on the UN Security Council to oppose Bush's war resolution on Iraq. Vatican sources claim they had not seen the pope more animated and determined since he fell ill to Parkinson's Disease. In the end, the pope did convince the leaders of Mexico, Chile, Cameroon and Guinea to oppose the U.S. resolution.
Madsen contends that "Bush is a dangerous right-wing ideologue who couples his political fanaticism with a neo-Christian blood cult."...'

It took over 8 years to end the Great Depression, and a World War.
This economic downturn was really close to that level, two years isn't nearly enough time.
And the deficit is up, because of war, not failed economic policies.
