Like it or not..the Dems will have to address SS and medicare as the money is running out.
Two hot potatoes that no one wants to touch. Keep pushing them back in the shadows..ignore them and the problems will go away ?? I think not. Too many people are dependent on them and boomers start to retire in big numbers next year.

The longer this is NOT addressed the harder the axe will fall.

Where does it say in your article that all Repubs are onboard. And like they have any majority power to do anything.

Reading is fundamental to understanding.
As per the OP's link, it is Paul Ryan's plan, not Boehner's.
I suppose it is referred to as the Republican plan because it was released as part of 'The Roadmap for America's Future' as per this article:

Ryan Plan Makes Deep Cuts in Social Security — Center on Budget and Policy Priorities

Isn't this the same plan Boehner is talking about ?
He's a co-sponsor.
Does Boehner have his own plan ?

Since Obama has been in , there is not cost of living raise for the SS recipients. Yet there was a raise on welfare payments.

Don't think so - he's quoted as saying this about Rep. Ryan's plan:

"Representative John A. Boehner, Republican of Ohio, the minority leader, has praised Mr. Ryan but said the Roadmap would not be a part of the Republican agenda this fall."

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/03/us...cs/03ryan.html

Of course, he may have changed course since August, but, I couldn't say for sure.

Well TigerLily24..we don't know what the Republican agenda is.
Then again we don't know what the Dem agenda is either.

The two sides are so busy saying whats wrong and how the other side is so bad that they have no time to say what they plan to do. I really hate the negative politics because that just leads me to think they have nothing to offer so the best they can do is bash the other side.

It's also happening on the local/state levels too and it's so annoying.

I don't want to hear how bad the other guy is/was..I can determine that myself by looking at their record. I want to hear what you have to offer to get me to vote for you.

Shame on Democrats for raiding Medicare of $500 Billion for Obamacare!

The left sure has found a new low in targeting seniors with fear-mongering.

First time the cola was not raised since the 1930's .. Obama doesn't want to give the seniors anything.. by the time most Americans get on SS there will be none as the handouts continue and job creation is dead..and bankrupting our nation...and the older you get the least you will have, whether it be medical care or living expenses.. Good luck to all those who don't have any savings for the end of your twilight years.

And France is rioting because of moving the retirement age to 62..
