Reader Digest, of all publications, had an article called "World's most dangerous leaders." in the current issue. As you probably guessed correctly, they are the leaders of North Korea, Syria, Iran, and Venezuela. These guys, of course, don't like US policy very much. The story began with these sentences "Any roll call of the world's despots is depressingly long. But only a handful of leaders threaten the security of countries well beyond their borders." I nearly choked on the irony. But that's another story.

During the cold war, it was the evil Soviet Union that was going to destroy America with their missiles. They, of course, never did. Then it was the Chinese who was going to nuke us. What ever happened to that plan of theirs? And that mess we got into in Vietnam? What was that about? Most recently, it was Iraq who threatened democracy and freedom in America with their....uh....AK-47 rifles because their WMDs were never found. Now it seems we need a new enemy...no...make that four new enemies. Do you not see a pattern here?

We are currently in a war that is costing the country serious dough and credibility and American lives. Yet the government is already bent on waging another one. It's just plain crazy.

War and enemies makes money. Makes money for media, defense contractors, politicians, biographers, workers who build the weapons...Just a method to make money and keep you from thinking about what the politicians are doing. The only thing this country should be worrying about is being the best and most efficient society possible and were not...its kind of sad.......

An empire must remain in a state of perpetual war, otherwise is ceases to exist. Zippy nailed it on the economic side.

Since America if failing in every other way they
need to inflict thier angry mall security guard
syndrome on other smaller countries to make
themselves feel any worth at all since the
military is pretty much all there is left other
than Exxon and WAL*MART.
Trying to stay above Mexico and Pakistan in the
caste' system of world power requires desperate
measures, these days.

That's cold, but sadly true these days, there's GOT to be a better way. Go see Michael Moore's(who I don't care for) film "Sicko" it will get ya clapping at the end.

Wars mean profit for corporations. The taxpayers get to foot the bill - of course. It's also a good way to divert attention from problems WITHIN the country, such as health care, immigration etc..... kind of like that movie wag the dog?!

Blame America, as usual. If it truly disgusts you as much as it does, move to one of these countries you love so much, i.e. France, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, or Iran, take your pick and I'd love to see how your tune changes. America has problems, of course, but the problem is not America. Your USA bashing serves no purpose, do something to change it if you feel so strongly about it, but then I guess you'd have nothing to complain about.

Exactly. And all Cheney and his underling puppet Bush care about is $$$$$. What do they care if Iraq goes on for 2 years and more die?. Bush has his 98,000 acres in Venezuela to retire to.

On the contrary....
If you remember the way America was and approve of where
it is going now, you should move to Iran or Calcutta. Let
us who appreciated what we had have it back. There are
plenty of places that support what you do, and the flights
are probably pretty cheap, too.
