The law originated as the National Currency Act of 1863.

Long story short, it was written in 1863, and gave Bush the power to completely screw things up in 2002, by FORCING the states to allow lenders to make poor loans to unqualified borrowers. Yes, the Bush administration would not ALLOW the state of North Carolina to police its own mortgage lending.

Who was his financial adviser at that time? Something seems to look the same? What is the common denominator?
Common demoninator between what, and what? Are you talking about Salmon P. Chase?

Oh, I'm sure you know banking regulation like the back of your hand. If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh*t, right?

Ironically, Bush and the republicans attempted to reform the mandate to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make home loans to unqualified borrowers in 2005. This measure was killed by the democrats (Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were heavily supported by Fannie and Freddie).

Oddly, these same democrats, who have driven the economy to the brink of disaster over the four years of thier control, are asking (to borrow an inane Obama analogy) for the "keys to the car". These are the same fools who caused the financial disaster and then deepened it.

It is certainly entertaining to see the short memories of the libs and how they twisted a disaster authored by the liberals into a problem caused by George Bush- the only man who tried to stop the problem.

Wow, GWB has been out of office for 2 years and the GOP has already rehabilitated him.

Pfft.

Can't help it. One of the things I love about Salmon P Chase is that he was so willing to take the initiative. Like putting his portrait on the first one-dollar bills as a political measure, since he wanted to run for President again, and knew that the one-dollar bill would be the most widely distributed and held American currency, so every bill was like a political advertisement for him. And like unilaterally deciding, since he was deeply religious, to add "In God We Trust" to the new currency.

Do you have any idea why Bush's "reform package" was killed? Or does Rush not tell you that far? I know your article (from Oct. 15, 2008) doesn't.

Stealing again Is it genetic? Can't the right come up with anything original?

As usual, no repsonses of any substance. I was making fun of Obama's analogy, as it is tired and boring. He needs a new writer.

When liberals face thier dirty legacy, it makes them uncomfortable-

1. The author of gutting the middle class through NAFTA and China most favored nation trade status

2. The federal mandate to Freddie and Fannie to make home loans to unqualified borrowers. Instead of punishing Fannie and Freddie, the dems pass "fiancial reform" and punish everyone BUT Fannie and Freddie. Further, they let Chris Dodd and Barney Frank orchestrate the "reform".

3. Unfunded massive entitlements

Want to cure the problems of America? Simply reverse liberal policy

1. Eliminate Fannie and Freddie's unholy alliance with the feds

2. Cut medicare, social security, medicaid

3. Eliminate Obamacare

4. Markedly cut the power of the EPA

5. Neuter the trial lawyer's association and make class action suits illegal

6. Eliminate the teacher's union

7. Eliminate NAFTA and China most favored nation trade status

There you have it- reversing 40 years of democratic policy to cure the nation.
