The comparison photo shows exactly what was amazing me during the rally. You can see how the crowd stretched really far back in the streets. It was nuts!
When they announced they were doing the wave, I really thought it was stupid. But standing there and being a part of it was CRAZY. We all stood around going "it's not working", and then you'd hear the roar of the crowd moving closer to where you were standing, and then see the arms lifting up coming towards you. It was like nothing else I've ever seen!

My sister was there, she said most of the time toward the northwest side of the center. She loved the wave too - goosebumps when it was sent back
