Although the personal life of ordinary citizens was under strict control, the ability of large corporations to operate in relative freedom was not compromised. The ruling elite saw the corporate structure as a way to not only ensure military production (in developed states), but also as an additional means of social control. Members of the economic elite were often pampered by the political elite to ensure a continued mutuality of interests, especially in the repression of “have-not” citizens.

I think some people also do not know the difference between what the American people want and business? they think everyone must think the way they do, not realizing Amrericans have many views. Most do not want socialism or government control of everything.

How did they vote? Straight Republican, all three of them as well as their daughters husband.

Extend the Bush tax cuts for ALL Americans (by the way, does anyone think there would be less Dem opposition to this position if we stopped calling them the "Bush Tax Cuts"?)
Reduce taxes on businesses who keep more jobs in America.
Enforce border security to cut of the flow of illegal aliens that depress incomes for lower-income jobs.
Quit driving down the value of the dollar by printing ream after ream of worthless paper money.
Reduce government spending by 15% across every department.
I can't wait until February of next year! REPUBLICANS can do what they said Obama should do, turn everything around in a month!
Unemployment will be down to 4%, the deficit will be cut in half,, foreclosures will have stopped, the financial industries will quit screwing Americans, health care will be affordable and available to everyone, the wealthy will create jobs, the war will END.....right?
