We're in a financial crisis right now.

How can we afford this?

Is it safe for him to go?

What is the purpose of this trip - honestly?

snopes.com: President Obama's Asian Trip - $200 Million per Day?

No one knows yet, and may never know exactly since "a large chunk of the expenses necessarily involve security arrangements") but "US officials disclaimed numeric figures cited... as 'wildly inflated' and 'absurd.'"

But those who wanted to spread it did so, and those who wanted to believe it did so. It's done.

As soon as the WH shows me the math, I will be happy to share it with you. I'm not holding my breath though - I think the WH knows full well that revealing the cost of this boondoggle would be politically counterproductive to say the least.

Defense ties to dominate Obama's India visit - International Business Times

"Obama will embark on a 10-day trip to India, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan during which he would take part in the G20 and the Asia-Pacific Economic Council summits. India, which was recently termed as a 'great and emerging global power' by the Obama administration, would be his first stop.
***
"The trip has also attained utmost strategic importance as the Obama administration seems to be seeking ways to contain China's rise strengthening military partnerships in rest of the region."

34 Navy warships -Including an aircraft carrier, 13 heavy lift aircraft, 3 helicopters, 500 security personel sent before hand, 800+ hotel rooms, interception and obstruction devices, sniffer dogs, rescue gadgets, 40 car convoy and they even removed all the coconuts from the trees so one won't fall on his head. That does not include the 3000 in tow. I'm sure that's cheap. lol

I wonder what his carbon footprint is with 33 warships and an aircraft carrier cruising around the Indian Ocean...

34 warships sent from US for Obama visit

Maybe the Indians are right wing nutjobs too and this is all a conspriracy. LOL

"Around 800 rooms have been booked for the President and his entourage in Taj Hotel and Hyatt." Does your article mention 3000 people, I didn't see that.
