Why else would anyone want to visit that country? I'm glad that I visited there at least once in 2006 when it was still free and European style. I'm not even a pot smoker, but visited there because I felt like I wanted to visit a somewhat "laissez faire" society that wasn't so judgmental about drug use, prostitution, etc. If you take away those things, there are plenty of other European cities that are just as enjoyable and more interesting to see.

It's not everybody who wants to restrict pot use. Only some of the politicians do. Unfortunately, it seems they have influence.
I would think that these days the country is over run with tourists. I know they bring the bucks but the place can be a mess. I've been to Queen's Day a couple of times, the first time being unaware of what I was getting into. I walked out of Centraal Station to a sea of people, no transportation in town and didn't know how to get to my hotel.
The Kingdom of the Netherlands is a sovereign kingdom and they have thr right to do as they see fit. If they want to close down the pot cafes then good for them.
Getting away with Murder! as in the Natlie Holloway case, Guilt is written all over Joran this Nut case.
Hope the human jawbone with tooth turns out to be Natlie, so that her family can finally get some closure. So gald it was Americans who found the discovery.
Guess you can get away with Murder in the Netherlands.

disclaimer: I did not read the article.
Maybe there were too many "Ugly Americans" making fools of themselves after engaging in legal pot smoking. LOL
Oh, I don't know. Maybe to see a original Rembrandt, the Van Gogh Museum, Hermitage Amsterdam. But then again, if the depth of your interest and knowledge of Amsterdam, maybe its best that you just stay home.

Stop!!!!!
YOU are asking too much. How dare you?
If they cannot find the religious factor, rest assured that art or literature is above and beyond.
Living in the uptight Puritan society that is America, it's a little difficult for some Americans to behave themselves in a country that is in some social contexts freer than here. Not saying that I like Americans acting retarded and embarrassing themselves and me and our country in general, but on the same token I suppose some people just have to 'let loose' in their own ways.
