Just like Steel Magnolias.
According to the Mail, Blanks and her partner, Gary Thomas, tried for 13 years to conceive a child. Their joy over Blanks becoming pregnant was crushed when doctors told her that her kidneys were failing.

Her only hope of survival, they said, was aborting the pregnancy. Blanks' mother, Sallie Blanks, tells the Mail that was never an option.

Well, she pulled it off (delivered child to die 13 months later), her fair choice I guess.

But ultimately, this was a profoundly stupid act, if only she knew the concept of ~adoption~

It was once written that there is no greater love than to give ones life up for the sake of another.

I guess in modern times to people like Back from NE, there is no greater love than to love ones own self more than any other.

I'm happy to see that she had the choice, it was hers to make. Just the same, I put this into the "chlorine in the gene pool" catagory.

It was her choice so I support that. BUT it sure would have been better if she had accepted her state of infertility 6-7 years ago and adopted a baby she could have mothered to its adulthood and lived long enough to become a grandmother in the process.

What the hell does that mean?

I have a friend who's wife died of breast cancer. She was diagnosed while she was pregnant and told she needed to go on chemo and radiation right away to give her the best chance at survival. Unfortunately the baby would have been sacrificed. She refused, the baby was born healthy, and the mother passed away a year later.
Are you saying that she was an idiot? Damn you if that's what you mean.

She would probably have been rejected as a possible adoptive parent due to her health issues.

Ultimately, none of us can put ourselves into her shoes so lets not sit in judgement. At least she had the opportunity to make an informed choice and her baby had a level of care which allowed it to survive.

What a preposterous statement. Who are you to make this judgement?
