Democrats:

Bought off by Unions, minority interest groups, feminists, Hollywood, homosexuals and pro-choice lobbyists.

Republicans:

Bought off by Wall Street, big business, big oil, pro-life and the Christian right wing extremists.

Theres the differences in a nutshell.

People won't be an independent because there's no money in it and you can't keep up with the monetary machines of either of the two major parties.

Since political parties are coalitions of like minded individuals and groups who share an common overall political agenda, how does one go about accusing those individuals and groups of "buying" off a party, since they aren't an external entity but an integral component of the party?

Default indepents

It would be a bad time for our friend's the independents, to be using controversial or even combative language. it would be hard for any one to take that party seriously with leaders such as Ron Paul and representative's like Lou Dobb's. there has never in history A law or bill I have read or heard of that an independent has started or ended Ron Paul believes in no government but if one has no government the how could one have competing party's, and then where would the domocracy come from and if no domocracy then there would be a monarch in charge

no NOT A MONARCH THE Independents believe in a MONARCH

The Republicans screwed up alot in the last 8 years and did not follow the conservative values and therefore got booted from office. When Democrats get out of hand and start messing with peoples lives and taxing the hell out of the people who work for a living, they will get booted out of office too.

It is a never ending circle, I just wish one of the parties would get it right and stop screwing over americans.

You Nailed it.

Democrat & Republican lawmakers go to dinner after playing the "Game" all day.

They are essentially similar in nature, the democrats just promise more.

The only hope to put a semi-independent party in the white house was with ross perot, regardless how you feel about him.

Neither party like the idea of an independent party. They don't want anyone horning in on their action.

we have a 2 party system like it or no, that is the way it is and that is the way it will stay when you are voting for a member of congress you are voting for either republican or democrat control, it is just that simple.

Unfortunately that's not true anymore. That was what happened in earlier times, producing compromise. Now the two sides are completely alienated from one another.

If we were all independents the politicians and their pollsters would go nuts, followed by the news media, that's for sure.

70% of the people don't like the way President X is handling Y but we have no idea who they are.

Democrat = inclusion, trying to find a concensus, almost to the point of being unable to do anything.
Republican = exclusion, paternalistic.

Many states require a party to vote in the primaries.

nothing says we have to only have a 2 party system, it just takes a majority of voters to elect someone in that is not from political party A (democrats) or political party B (republicans).

And if elected they will caucus either with the dems or republicans, there is no third party that even comes close to ousting one of those 2.
