Just think about how President Obama would have handled 9/11 had he been President on that day, with all we know about his character and actions up to now.
Even think about it, had Gore won in 2000...

How Bush and Cheney manage to go to bed at night with the blood of 100 000+ lives on their hands is truly remarkable.
The answer is, that is how YOU are able to sleep at night. The fact that they acted the way the did in response to the attack has kept us all safe. Most of the men and women in our armed forces are and were honored to serve - at least the friends that I have and know - and you should not disgrace them.
I think our best option out of the 200 candidates in that respect would have been McCain. He might be a war monger but he never would have made up BS reasons for going into Iraq. And he would not have gone in half-arsed if he had.
Gore would have done fine because he was atleast a good administrator. He would have followed the military's lead instead of letting Cheney/Rumsfeld call the shots over the likes of Powell and top brass.
Not sure how Obama would have done- I'm sure the speech would be lovely...
I think the Bush 9/11 initial response was the high point of his presidency because in that instance he really did comprehend what had happened and was able to convey both compassion and strength. But the way he used 9/11 as an excuse for everything that followed was just mind-numbing.
Best case scenario would have been 2001 occurring under a second term of Powell's presidency.
FWIW- everyone does realize that Ronald Reagan was a divorced president? Betty Ford a divorced first lady? Bob Dole a divorced Presidential candidate/ Ditto McCain.

Obama would not have let it happen, because he had no agenda to let it happen, like Bush-Cheney did. Everybody and their mothers knew that an attack was coming (except Condaliarza), using planes as missles, from the Phillipines to Russia, from the CIA to the FBI. Why else do you think that the top Pentagon brass were ordered not to fly commercial planes in the months leading up to the attack? We waved the terrorists thru. and let them train at CIA sponsored flight schools, to fly planes but not land them or take off. Bush knew - even after the first plane hit, as he said he was watching it on tv, and kept reading 'The Pet Goat' to 6th graders, shoud tell you that and more. Oh, remember Bush smiling, saying he hit the 'trifecta' when reflecting on his plans to invade Iraq? LOL!!!!
