Kind of like Obama in Afghanistan, that bottomless rathole.

I heard Obama was a smart guy. Why hasn't he learned anything from history?

I agree I was very upset about his decision.

I apologize, perhaps I got a tad too projecting here. Some people do join the military for work experience or just to work period. Some are unlucky to be sent into Iraq or Afghanistan.

In order to drum up support for the wars. The US government has branded the military toward the mainstream right wing in America.

What you are seeing is just an aspect of war propaganda.

The defense industry has become quite lucrative over the years. It's about making profit and money, at the expense of lives. You see the propaganda used by the aforementioned corporations and it should not be surprising. Corporate fascism at its finest.

Military or whatever nothing like smoke and mirrors. Based on this comment can I believe they really were American Military personnel??

They have the large cut out officers and everything to make it look appealing, military flags everywhere. I will admit I have never been so sick in my life. Am I to believe that this beer company truly has the military, or the soldiers even, best interests in hand? Hell no, this is the most obvious stunt to increase profit.
Ya, it makes me sick too when I see posters from the eco-terrorist groups or when they blow up a medical facility or kill a doctor. Did it ever enter your head that some money made from these beer sales goes to help veterans????

Quote:
You know why? Because as a nation we tend to be brainwashed into think we are the good guys of the world. So that means the military and anyone in it can do no wrong and some even are lead to believe that they are protected by the ALMIGHTY GOD! So of course they take this into respect and buy a case of beer from that company. BAZING! Who cares Phil just died in a bull**** war, we scored major profit.
If you are really living in the US the truth is we are being brainwashed into thinking we are the worlds worst enemy, that America and it's troops are bloodthirsty killers and Americans are so dumb they'll believe anything they are told even though the facts are right in front of them. All I can say is sorry dude, you been either watching too many muslim movies with a hash pipe -or- you've got some pipe-bombs strapped around your waist trying to get yourself worked up to kill some more school kids.

Seriously though people, before I completely come off as being your stereotypical left nut, I too love the concept of the military. I want to glorify an organized armed forces that does indeed protect out sovereign rights. However the USA hasn't been involved in a large scale war against a legit power since WWII. We have never, ever had a legit threat to our sovereignty as a nation state.(At least compared to European countries) So than I ask you why is our military so glorified as being viewed as "world saviors" when history seems to disagree. If anything our economy alone helped out the allies in WWII more than our military by supplying the USSR and UK with vehicles.
And what about the 416,800 servicemen and women who died in the war, they all driving supply trucks and motorcycles to the front?

Oh really??? Japan invaded America on the islands of attu and Kiska up in Alaska in 1942. Real Japanese combat troops on American soil.

Have you forgotten the US was fighting a two front war in WW2? After WW2, Many would consider South Korea as a large battle, The Tet Offensive in Viet Nam was another bigger battle with the NVA

Quote:
So I ask you how do we get this massive sense of pride? I am not saying there is no shame in supporting armed forces but we take it to a whole new level where companies can take advantage of consumers by using the military as a means of advertisement. To me that is just sickening.
We get a sense of pride from doing the job that was handed to us. Almost every word you use it comes across quite clear you are embarrassed about the military pride being displayed. You wanna puke because you feeling sick? told ya not to drink that one once glass of light beer with the USMC emblem on it.

Where is the thanks to our great diplomats and organizations in the UN(believe it or not it actually does stuff and A LOT of important stuff mind you) that help keep peace in the world so we don't waste anymore lives or money?
Millions die in camps in Africa, thousands are dying in Haiti. The UN is self-serving and should be demolished, torn down and all the politicians in it sent to Africa or Haiti, with no clothes, no money. Get them down off their ivory tower.

Quote:
Its like we are brainwashed that our military can do no wrong, and than people who sign up for the military seem to get an unwanted sense of importance to their name. Granted they have a slight chance of risking their lives, it isn't really worth much to me that you voluntarily signed up for the military WILLINGLY KNOWING that you might get sent to babysit two groups from killing each other or you might get sent to a country that is a tactical nightmare for a military campaign, searching for a guy that might be dead. Signing to that does not justify to me that you are trying to defend my rights in any way shape or form. All you did was willingly sign up to be apart of the world's largest police force and having a large sense of self-importance to me, does not seem justified at all.
It seems to come off really clear you have never served in any armed forces. First, It is a proud occurrence to be inducted into the military service of your choice. The tradition, the men who laid down their lives so we can have the freedom we cherish today. Duty, Honor, Country.

This thread started with cardboard cutouts of (maybe) military types with cardboard flags waving. By the end of the thread the cardboard cutouts are shoving the cardboard US Flags up his butt. I don't think you know the obligations of a military man or woman.

You follow orders to the letter, you don't, some of your comrades including yourself will die, plain and simple.

Well a lot of what you said can be summed up by calling you a bigot. You took about 50% of what I said completely out of context and than referring me to a terrorist was just out of line.

First off, WHOOPI THE BEER COMPANY GAVE SOME MONEY TO THE ARMED FORCES. You do realize most of the corporate bosses come in this profit minded right? It's people like you they can sucker into playing the "soldier" card and make you feel bad if you didn't buy their product. Even than it also doubles as a stunt to improve their image. Nothing more, guarantee you the head of beer company could care less about the losses of the war as long as he looks good and more people buy his product.

Yes I also know we fought a two front war in WWII. However Japan's attack was hardly a threat to our sovereignty, they didn't have anywhere near enough man power to take us on. The attack was to hopefully cripple or hold off an invasion, so they could try to conquer more resources due to our embargo. Hell they stretched their empire so thin they had to stop at Australia. Perhaps you should revise your history knowledge.

No I have never served in the armed forces, I refuse to join one whose current objective is to take orders from pompus *******s in the senate in order to play world police. We are accomplishing nothing and we are creating a greater threat for ourselves by pissing off the people that live there. What about the civilians that died during all this conflict? For what? A watered down, artificial democracy system that is bound to collapse?

You have done nothing but prove to me how narrow minded of the world you are. Please save my eyes from having to read your garbage.

Default America has perverted the concept of a military

I always thought of the military as a haven from capitalism.

The easy life.

I would not include tending a boiler on an old Destroyer Escort during a winter storm on the way to Nova Scotia an Easy Life. Same goes for being ambushed when searching a small Mekong Delta hamlet for illegal weapons. Yes, there were weapons there. They were mostly pointed at us sailors. Memorable moments followed.

I am proud of the people in our Armed Forces. They serve us well. I am disgusted by the invasions they are told to do. That is the political aspect that shames them and us.

OP – Military Recruiting has never known any limits. Recently they have been having problems signing up enough people. It seems that even the poor do not want to go play with the Afghanis. The upper classes, with a few exceptions, never did. So the Military using a Beer company to advertize for recruits is to be expected. Just another example of our culture’s Rush to the bottom.
