Aren't lesbians "gay"?? What is the difference between a lesbian and a gay female? I think I am a lesbian trapped in a man's body.

I think both would be a lot more acceptable in general if some weren't such characters about it. Effeminate men and she-men are flat out annoying.

None of the gay men I know do the whole Tinkerbell act. That's why I know them. I don't expect them to go to Nascar races or anything, I just expect them to conduct themselves like people. Because no woman acts like some of these fairies do. I say fairy not as a gay slur, but to comment on the subset of gay men who behave that way. With some it can be to the point where it's ridiculous ........... and if a woman acted that way I couldn't stand her either.
Most gays don't act like that, but I also don't think it's fair to blame the one's that do of doing it intentionally. I work in Musical Theatre, so like half the guys i work with are gay. A couple of them are a bit more effeminate (not obnoxiously so, but it's obvious), and I find it very hard to believe it's intentional. Since I believe orientation is due to biological changes in pre-natal development, I think a lot of the effeminate behavior found in some gays is due to the way their brain is wired. They act very natural, but it still comes across as effeminate.

Nita
In most of the 1st world, they are far more accepted (Europe, Canada, NZ, Australia). The US is probably the worst of the 1st world countries when it comes to gay tolerance. But yes, the US is far better than non-1st world countries.

Of course, if you visit Provincetown, MA on the weekend, this is a sight that you might actually see.

In other words, celebrating an occasion is a lot different than celebrating the fact that you're different from the majority, over, and over, and over again.

When someone says to me "We're here and we're *****."

I say "Good, now **** and get to work like everybody else."
I don't see how that's any different than your typical bar or Mardi Gras when it comes to straights.

My uncle is gay. He crosses his legs, bends his hands down at the wrist, says things like "Girrrrl" when he talks, etc. I'm fine with that.

That is not nearly what I'm talking about, lol.

I'm talking about gays that make Rip Taylor look straight. Oh yeah, they're out there. A lot of them are out there. I think those are the ones that make it bad for the rest.

I believe lesbians are more acceptable the gays. Men seem to think in more harsh terms on gays than on lesbians. At least that is my observation, take care.

Consider that they might not be able to tolerate you either.

People are who they are. Sure, there are annoying gays, but I've known a lot more annoying straights in my life.

Well...........

They are asking me to accept them. I'm just telling you why I don't. I also said the same thing. I wouldn't tolerate a straight woman who acted like that either.

So in other words it's not about gay or straight, it's about behavior. I accept people based on who they are and how they act, not their gender, race, color, or orientation.

How is acting very effeminate not conducting like people? I've never seen such behavior out of any of the gay men I've known, some act like some of the stereotypes but never like that, but so what if they did? Maybe I might find it a bit annoying, maybe not, but either way, how does it make inhuman or ridiculous? Why is it wrong to act like a woman? Do you throw fits when you meet a tomboy? I never found it particularly aggravating if someone's mannerism and masculinity were different than mine. It is not as though I have to change my mannerisms and behaviors because I am near someone a different than I am. I do agree that lesbians are viewed more favorably; I suspect because of Victorian paradigms and patriarchal values.
