Depending on the private charter flight it mightbe cheaper than a first class flight ticket. Think about this people. The third person in line to the most powerful single governmental position in the world is riding on a commercial aircraft liner. It may play well with Mayberry RFD but its the stupidest idea ever. I never had a problem with Pelosi flying on a private charter. By the way I detest Pelosi.
The more hours put on those jets means the more maintenance they get which keeps mechanics, fuelers and other entities in business.
I for one am always happy to see people using jets and private aircraft to fly because it keeps me and my company in business. But, to each his/her own I suppose.
Your job is worth a LOT less than what Pelosi spent to fly her and her crew all over the world. If government waste is the only thing that keeps you in business it might be a good time to start looking for a new line of work.
Boehner does not need to rely on a government form of transprtation as his lobbyst buddies will supply whatever he might need. After all, he's there to serve them too. Boehner never met a lobbyist that he did not like. In fact, Boehner was the guy that passed out the payola checks from the tobacco industry.
Who’s Buying John Boehner This Week?
Is he taking yet another ride on someone’s private corporate jet–after already having taken 45 the past several years? Is he going to golf at some posh golf resort on a lobbyist’s tab or go to a posh beach resort this coming weekend all expenses paid? Boehner Checks Tobacco - neoone.org

One day last summer Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, chairman of the House Republican Conference, decided to play Santa Claus. … In any event, Mr. Boehner took it upon himself to begin handing out money from tobacco lobbyists to certain of his colleagues on the House floor. If you think that a piece of crap can be called refreshing?????
On the piece of crap meter he's nowhere near as large of a pile as Pelosi.

You make a comment based on bias and are you condoning Boehner's despicable and corrupt record? Do you like your representatives so entrenched with corporate lobbyists? Do you think that it is good for your country? Do you?
While I like the gesture by Boehner I'm not so sure I like the idea of the Speaker of the House sitting in the same plane with potentially people who would like to do him harm. Certainly he shouldn't follow in Pelosi's foot steps but instead I'd like to see him tone it down. Maybe take military jets when possible, small charter etc. Whatever is cheapest.
Look at how much that hag abused the service, carting around her brats and their brats, boozing it up, living large, costing the taxpayers millions of dollars.

Regardless what his record is, this is a good start.
If anyone of you remember when Pelosi grilled the auto executives flying on private jets for asking for bailout, and she and her buddies are doing the same. Flying on private jets when the government is broke.
The sense of entitlement and further disconnect from the real world of the average taxpayer by having a private jet at ones beck and call, negates any small benefit derived from a handful of airport crew.
Tell that to the people and their families you'd be putting out of work. I'm an average taxpayer and I work with private planes on a daily basis. As another poster on this thread mentioned, if you have a full plane (6-12+ people give or take) it's actually CHEAPER to fly in a private aircraft than it would be to purchase first class tickets for each of them. Plus, take in account the layovers, extra time going through security and the time wasted considering commercial planes are quite a bit slower than private and you'd probably just end up bitching about the same politicians not being punctual and 'wasting time'.

Aww, thanks I happen to LOVE LOVE LOVE my job and won't be looking for a new job anytime soon. It's sad that so many people hate private air travel without even knowing a thing about it except 'it's bad'.
For some reason a carbon foot print is no longer important. If Boehner is riding on a commercial aircraft he will be able to keep up with all the BS the rest of us have to put up with in order to fly. And last I heard there were random sky marshalls on planes. You think there may be a couple on Boehners flights?
You quote an article from 1996 about Boehner getting money from tobacco companies. Do you really think they weren't contributing to the Dems too? An article from 14 years ago doesn't seem too onerous.
BTW, what's up with Charlie Rangle these days?
