"Sarah Palin’s family reality show-slash-travelogue, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” began on Sunday night before almost five million viewers on TLC. TLC said it represented the biggest premiere in the channel’s history. Alessandra Stanley of The New York Times wrote in a review, 'Mostly, the eight-part series lives up to its title — the camera follows the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee as she fishes, hunts, dog-sleds and rock-climbs.'"

I still have to say after seeing the first episode, I don't know how she could leave that beautiful state for ugly Washington DC. The state is absolutely gorgeous. All I kept thinking about when the bears started to fight near the small fishing boat they were on is that Stephen Colbert would have wet his pants.

Just one more indication of how shallow our society has become.

When our chief political figures are reduced to little more than another "reality" show (which are anything BUT real), our nation is doomed.

I'm afraid the movie "Idiocracy" is coming true.

I watched the show. They need to show MORE of the scenery of Alaska and LESS of Sarah and her family and their day-to-day activities.

This reminded me of the movie "Titanic". The movie was supposed to be about the sinking of the ship but instead was a 3 hour love story about Leo and Kate. The story could have been told WITHOUT the Titanic.

TLC sure has gone down the toilet over the last 10 years.

It used to be a good, educational channel .. now though, all they show anymore is tripe.

Sorry but...the Palins getting that close to a bear with cubs was about as irresponsible as it gets. What the show didn't portray were the guns trained on those bears in case they attacked. That is NOT how Alaskans act.

I have never seen a skinny grizzly bear ... until last night.

The scenery is absolutely breathtaking.

lol. TLC channel? the same garbage in-garbage out channel that broadcasts the Jon/Kate junk....weird how they call it a "learning" channel. "Discovery" and "History" channel teach you something. But I guess thats the level of idiocy some people watch. sad.

Kids today should study and read books, not watch this garbage. Its the reason we blocked that channel on our menu.
