The Muslim World is in desperate need of Female leadership. It's primarily all male leadership has epically FAILED it's people.

With Female Leadership it will finally be able to:

1. Educate it's population and bring it into the modern world (after all it is oppressing half it's population by gender).
2.Advance it's culture by having a womans point of view.
3.Educate it's young girls so they can realize their full potential and fight for their rights instead of being someone's illiterate 4th wife.
5.Have a better understanding ,respect and give a voice for someone's wife, daughter, sister, mother or grandmother.

And most of all it's Male dominated society(with a few exceptions) has through Religion,Culture,Ignorance and Sexism has kept a good portion of it's society in the Stone age.

Christianity hundreds of years ago was at a similar a place. The Muslim world can still maintain it's Religion, and positive aspects of it's culture and really flourish if it respects and gives opportunities ,rights, education and at least a chance for it's young women and girls.

You can point to Saudi Arabia,Dubai and other places to refute some of the points made in this post, but the reality is if these places didn't have mass reserves of oil they would in most parts be primitive. Hopefully as time passes in these changes come to pass as not only would the Muslim world benefit but the Entire world would benefit.

Forgetting about Benazir Bhutto? She tried to make change, but look what happened to her....

I suspect any other female leader of a Muslim country would suffer the same fate.

Yeah, I'm sure that's on the top of their list of things to take care of right away.

You're correct unfortunately, and when half your population(women) is deliberately held back. Your entire nation is held back.

Commonsense tells you that if hold back half, then the other half (Men) can't succeed either. And it is also correct that any Woman of talent that tried (Bhutto) would put herself at great risk.

Points for bringing up Benazir Bhutto. I was going to point out the same.

I dunno bout that.

Look at the downslide the American society has taken since women have entered the workforce. Not as many jobs available, children neglected in day care, two incomes to chase the dream of a 5,000 sq foot McMansion.

I don't condone stoning or burning, but IMO US women should have been given the right to vote and nothing else,

well maybe a couple pair of shoes for when they stand on a cold kitchen floor.

Four out of the five most populous Muslim-majority countries(Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Turkey) have elected female presidents or prime ministers in the last twenty years. While most Muslim-majority countries haven't had female heads of state--consider that there are plenty of Western countries--such as the Netherland, Denmark, Italy, Spain, and the United States have never elected female heads of state.

I'd say though that it might be a while before you see any Arab Muslim countries electing a female leader...Although part of the problem is that many of the Arab countries are either hereditary monarchies(Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States, Morocco) or basically dictatorships(Libya, Syria, Egypt)--democracy hasn't had much success in general in the Middle East.

The Muslim World needs Female Leaders !!!

That would be great .. doubt it will ever happen though, because the Muslim male is simply just too terrified of women to ever allow anything like that to happen ..

Actually Muslim countries have produced seven female heads of state.
US = 0.

Benazir Bhutto - Pakistan
Mame Madior Boye - Senegal
Tansu Ciller - Turkey
Kaqusha Jashari - Kosovo
Megawati Sukarnoptri - Indonesia
Khaleda Zia - Bangladesh
Sheikh Hasina - Bangladesh

Bangladesh was the first country in the world to have one female head of state follow another.

I think before we point the finger elsewhere, we should get our own house in order. Women are still not treated equally in this country. We have made great strides, but have a ways to go yet.
