New boy in town and he's touting airbuses, passenger airbuses.
Move over Airbus and Boeing, Commerical Aircraft Corp (China) is the new boy in town.

And..GE placed an order with Commerical Aircraft Corp from China.

Mish's Global Economic Trend Analysis: China Announces 100 Commercial Airplane Orders Breaking Airbus-Boeing Grip; GE Among First Customers of the 168-Seat C919 Passenger-Plane

"Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China announced its first 100 C919 passenger-plane orders, breaking Airbus SAS and Boeing Co.’s stranglehold on the world’s second- largest market for new aircraft.

General Electric Co.’s leasing arm and China’s big three domestic airlines were among the customers for the 168-seat plane, state-controlled Comac said in a statement issued at the Zhuhai air show in southern China today."

GE did have some skin in the game though.

Given the quality of other products from China I certainly don't want to fly on one.

The bigger implications...
-China was a net exporter of airplanes from the US. No need for that now.
-China won over Boeing,SAS. China broke their stranglehold

That's a lose/lose on 2 fronts..exports and continued work for Americans.

China can produce quality products, they sell us junk because the American consumer wants cheap junk.

Perhaps but lets not forget those faulty parts in Toyota's were in fact manufactured in china.
The bigger implication in my mind is the fact that China has had access to US aircraft. China has demonstrated a complete lack of honoring patents.
Case in point:
Chinese rip-offs of Western automakers

It didn't stop US companies from sending them the goods.
Money talks.

China now makes computers as well..in fact 2 of the 3 fastest supercomputers today are from China.

It didn't take long for them to catch up. China is out to become #1.

Wonderful.
I have to wonder, how much did our outsourced aviation manufacturing contribute to this..

Brazil has been making quality commercial aircraft for years now.
So it should come as no surprise, that China can do so.

Here..even back in 2004 Boeing was making plans.
It was all to stay globally competitive.

And this:
Boeing's global sights dimming - Los Angeles Times

What it boiled down to..unions cost Boeing too much and they cannot be competitive on a global scale.
