For all you know China could have gotten in at the IPO and then dumped at the open to walk away with a nice profit.
Making money on the stock is not the issue. Some will, some won't. What the stock value is next week or next year, will show some measure of the success of the Company. That GM is able to do this, and raise money, is what is significant.

That was easy money yesterday at the open. 20% of the IPO shares traded within the first 10 minutes of trading at a $2/share profit.
The people that got a back door invite to the stock, bought @ $33. It opens to the selective public @ $35 and those with the backdoor price dump it, pocketing more US currency and taking it to China. Look who else was able to get it before it opened!

Ford is an American company. Remember..it's called "The Big Three", not the Big Two that government bailed out.
Ford, Toyota, and Honda all lobbied congress to help reorganize GM and Chrysler in an orderly manner because they said if GM and/or Chrysler go under then most of their suppliers would go under stopping production at Ford, Toyota, and Honda for a time. Sorry, but the whole problem with a global financial crisis is capital markets aren't working thus strategic intervention is needed. As it turns out everything was done well and we, the tax payers, are going to make a healthy profit in addition to saving hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of US jobs. You should be happy.
