How about paying for it by scrapping congress's health care plan, let them buy their own. Would probably save lots of money or scrape the tax cuts for the wealthy, that would save enough for this extension.
^ well that is surprising since most car salesmen are considered self employed & are commission based. Unless he is salary based how does he get Unemployment Insurance?
SO, it passed then, since you only need a majority in the House.
What are you complaining about?
Sanrene The Dems used a 2/3 majority procedure vote to try and make the repubs look bad they wouldnt do an up or down vote because they would have to pay for it remember paygo or 2/3 majority for emergency spending

Here is a quote from a Republican: Added Rep. Mike Pence, the No. 3 Republican in the House: "We're facing a fiscal crisis in this country. If we're going to choose to extend unemployment again we've got to find a way to pay for it."
I AGREE with Rep Pence. It should be paid for. And we can start paying for it by scrapping the Bush tax cuts. I would scrap ALL of them but especially the ones for the rich.
Oh sure, then chase all those who can offer jobs out of the country. That has been tried and it failed. The rich just go across state lines or out of the country altogether. Haven't you heard Trump talk about it?

The rich can go out of the country. I wish them well. Of course we will have a nice "severance tax" on any money they wish to take out. And where would they go? Canada? Nope- taxes are as high. England? nope, taxes are higher. Same with Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, France- just about any country that is not a total shet hole. So don't let the door hit ya on that way out. Funny that they all didn't leave when Clinton was in there. In fact times were pretty damn good back then. And we are only talking about going back to the Clinton rates.
There's a bigger problem looming next year for the states regarding unemployment.
Any state that took the stimulus for part time unemployment will need to fund it themselves 100% starting next year. The Fed only funded it for 2 years and the 2 years is over in 2011.
Trump said Switzerland. He should know and he may leave at some point. When he does then we know it is really bad.
