I think that we have become a nation of sheeple who never argue or protest when our rights are being trampled upon by an increasingly obtrusive Federal government. If they do this to me, I will protest loudly and defend my right to be free of harassment as a citizen of this pitiful country. Would any of you do the same or join in some sort of protest against this treatment?
Those freedoms you enjoy in this "pitiful country" are being taken away by Muslim extremists (or at least they're trying). To keep our airways safe, I have no problem submitting my own self to a full body scanner or a pat-down if everyone else has to do it, too, i.e., the would-be terrorists. This should not be a problem unless you're hiding something. While I do have a big problem with the gov't infringing upon personal rights and intruding into our lives, this is one thing I am willing to sacrifice for the sake of keeping Americans safe.

If you don't like living in a "pitiful country," you're free to leave.

On this we can agree - it is outrageous.

If you opt out of the naked scanner, they will intimidate, bully and make it uncomfortable for you.

Just let them try this with one of my daughters, either with the scanner -NOT going to happen, OR the pat down - NOT going to happen.

The solution?

LOOK for those people who fit the profile of the people out to bring down a plane.

Look, if the muslim terrorist REALLY wanted to destroy our country, they could have easily done so long ago. Our border with mexico is wide open after all. If an illegal can get through, why couldn't a muslim? No, I believe the gov't is actually using fear and giving business to its industrial buddies that it favors to keep our minds off of everything else in this country.

This country is pitiful imo, because I remember an America where individual freedoms (at least when flying) were allowed. you're free to get patted down at the airport, but I'll strip naked before they do that to me.

Since when is it one of our freedoms to fly? Flying is a privilege I believe not a freedom, so when people say our freedoms are being taken away I have to ask, what freedoms are these?

The freedom to travel without being groped and grabbed at by Joe Rent-A-Cops or naked xrays. THAT FREEDOM.

We're all guilty once we buy that airline ticket and have to prove our innocence at the airport.

I think you're going to change your tune mighty fast and start wailing when the next terrorist with a bomb gets through and downs a passenger plane. Don't think they're not trying. Or do you propose that we just invite them into first class?

They already tried..didn't you read about the "Toner Cartridges of Death" ?
They don't need people anymore to take down plans..they can just ship a package via air.

why don't they just bomb some shopping malls in different parts of the country instead? aren't the muslims even smart enough to figure that out? that would hurt this country more because it would kill retail sales/evil capitalism/american jobs, espec in the busy holiday season.
Bombing planes is so 2001 anyway.

Yes, and you should want the government to do every last damn thing it can to keep items and people with intent to harm us off of our planes and out of our country - and preferably to kill them wherever they are. Those same guys who failed in this bombing attempt will learn from their failures and they will try again. And these people have resources and connections; maybe soon it might be a nuclear device they're working with instead of an explosive-laden toner cartridge. Why are you in favor of increasing the weaknesses and gaps in our defenses that they will try to exploit?

You're seeing a change in tactics of the terrorists now. And you're right. They're moving away from blowing up airplanes, to just plain ol' shooting people on the street and blowing bombs up on the street. Course then they'll now justify those rovering x-ray backscatter vans on the streets of major cities. They already do it too. The waves are powerful enough to penetrate the outer walls of buildings too. That's an extremely high level of radiation
