The Los Angeles Times and University of Southern California are probably the best in analyzing California thinking and political trends. Their polling during the election turned out to be the most accurate; on election night the LA Times waited politely for 10 minutes after the polls closed to call the election in favor of the Democratic party and they were correct on every race. So, now this latest poll must be extremely bad news for California Republicans.

"California voters surveyed in the poll repudiated the Republican party's stance on illegal immigration by endorsing a host of positions intended to make it easier for the undocumented to gain legal status. Their support for same-sex marriage outnumbered that opposing any legal recognition by more than 3 to 1. Californians also endorsed an assertive role for government in protecting minority citizens, regulating corporations and helping the poor and needy, and rejected arguments that an activist role for government had harmed the fiber of American society".

Of interest is the number of voters who said that they would NEVER vote for a Republican [20%] and how overwhelmingly liberal those 30 years old or younger, Latinos, women. Also support for President Obama at 64% is one of the highest in the nation.
I think........More bad news for California......would be a more accurate title.

Exactly!!

The GOP should be happy. Why in the world would anyone want to claim a political victory in the land of fruits and nuts? Let the Dems float away with those lefty loonies in CA.

Note that Nevada's in similar dire straits and Arizona is only barely better off than its two neighbors. Oregon isn't doing that good, either. The only western states doing OK are Washington and Colorado (MAYBE Hawaii also...)

They are insolvent already.

They have been after a federal bailout for some time. Even if they get a bailout, which I bet they will, it will be debt that will help to water down the American Dollar even further.

California will be treated as a "too big to fail" situation. The rest of the country will pay for it for decades to come. Once the money starts flowing, most will forget about how the mess began, and it will be business as usual. Reason and accountability will not matter.
