Why does congress make more than our military personnel?

Why are there government employees, getting compensated 5 times more then the men & women, putting their lives on the line for this nation and world freedom?

Because congress doesn't have a real concept of money and they have a very inflated sense of self worth, just look at Pelosi... you know if she were capable of being honest she would tell you she deserved $5 million a year for what she does. Add in the fact that Congress votes on what they are paid and your question is answered.

Because those that serve are considered expendable. That is the reality of it.

I don't consider it fair or just, btw.

We agree.

Now, for part 2... Is that right?

Part 3... How do WE THE PEOPLE, fix it?

We remove pieces of human excrement like Pelosi by using our votes then elect people who will really represent WE THE PEOPLE. It's not easy because those same politicians who line their own pockets also line the pockets of lots of special interest groups so they've sealed up their voting base for years and they know it.

Congressmen make more money then most members of the military, but not all. They are paid at about the rate of a Lt. General.

For the same reason the coal miner who risks his life and health isn't compensated better than the middle manager in the mining company.

The pool of people who can be turned into good soldiers is larger than the pool of those who can be turned into able legislators. If we want good administrators, we need to pay on a scale that matches private enterprise.

If we underpay, we are sure to get a Congress consisting of independently wealthy or those in the pockets of diverse industries. (Not that we're not getting a lot of that today, mind. But there's no need to encourage the trend.)

Dane, That sounds all good and well. That explains what happens. Doesn't explain why we let it happen, or why we can't end it

What if there were no such thing as employees.

If you need help, you must ask them to be a part of your business. Or hire another business to do your work(that you mark up the price)

The now business partners are the only stock holders. It is up to them to create enough business for all people working there to split the profits to feed their families, or take the losses, when they fail to meet what the people can produce at a profit. All business partners are evaluated and voted on to stay or go every 6 months, by the stockholders within their divisions.

How would you have a greedy owner, or a greedy corporation?

I know. I'm just throwing it out there.
