Some interesting facts on this issue.

Quote:

On the Senate Republicans’ website, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell claims that the law is responsible for “whopping rate increases.” McConnell highlights a quote from a Washington state man who says that the health care bill “went into effect and my rates went through the roof.” But that’s highly misleading. In fact, Washington Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler is quoted in the very news story McConnell cites as saying that that particular rate increase "has absolutely nothing to do with health care reform."

That's interesting because my health insurance is rising quite a bit in 2011 and the company itself said it was due to the new regulations from ObamaCare. Mine went up about $50 per month and I have a family plan. One of my friends has a single plan and hers doubled. Guess it depends who you ask because our insurance companies are telling us it's because of the new health care law.

The last few paragraphs of the link clarify what the CBO has said on this.

I prefer to go right to the source rather than read some spinning done by media

http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/107xx/doc...0-Premiums.pdf
Average premiums per policy in the nongroup market in 2016 would be roughly $5,800 for single policies and $15,200 for family policies under the proposal, compared with roughly $5,500 for single policies and $13,100 for family policies under current law

A Broader Scope of Benefits Would Increase Nongroup Premiums

New Fees Would Increase Premiums Slightly

$5,800 is $300 higher than current law for single individuals
$15,200 is $2,100 higher than current law for families.

no matter how you calculate it, Obama care INCREASED the cost of healthcare.

I notice how factcheck ignores these figures in their story but they sighted things like the WhiteHouse "Blog" which says that the bill did not cause UNJUST increases (meaning the increases are justified).. Its almost like they are either too stupid to comprehend and read the reports or their own, or they dont mind LYING to people like you who buy their bs because you wont verify the accuracy (or non accuracy) of the bs they are giving you..

Until factcheck stops outright lying to people about the truth, they remain unreliable as a news media.

My insurance went down. When does the law kick in that 80% of insurance priemiums need to go for medical expenses? I thought that was the reason for my reduction. First time in 30 years.

If it does go up due to the new health care laws, you can thank those who opposed a public option. Without that option, which the GOP and the insurance companies fought and won, there is nothing to hold the insurance companies back.

Remember, the insurance companies first legal responsibility is to make money for thier shareholders, the care of the insured is NOT their primary duty.

Funny, my company-supplied insurance remained the same with regards to cost, but the cap on lifetime benefits allowed was removed (per the new Health Care law).

However, my company is self-insured - there's no insurance company seeking to make a profit off of my health insurance.

Just a coincidence?

The ONLY fact that counts is the fact that insurance companies can charge whatever they want.

And Republicans fight for that "right".

Lightbulb Why Insurance Premiums Are Increasing

In a nutshell: it's holiday season bonus check time for insurance executives.

Look for them to richly reward themselves this year for neutering health care reform.
