Oh how ridiculous! Is someone (anyone!) telling you that you can't call it Christmas? That you cannot say "Merry Christmas"? Why the need for everyone to call every holiday by the word you use? Why can't Patty Pagan call it Yule, if that's how she believes; or let Billy Buddhist simply call it the holiday season; or Joseph Jew call it the Chanuka season; or those who merely celebrate because it's the season for celebrating say "season's greetings"? Why must our holiday of Christmas automatically have 'more meaning' to EVERYONE than someone else's "happy holidays"?
Some businesses insist that their employees say "Happy Holidays" instead. Being PC has gone way too far.
Me and my family don't currently attend any church, but we know what the season is about. It's still CHRISTmas to us. I cannot stand season's greetings or happy holiday's. IT'S CHRISTMAS!!! I am so sick and tired of the minority in this country trying to change everything. For the people who don't celebrate Christmas...lock yourselves in the house until December 26th.
I agree with you!!! I do attend church and I also say it is CHRISTMAS!
Actually it is WINTER SOLSTICE (the shortest day of the year and the start of winter) if you want to be technical about it. They just put Jesus' birthday on that day because somebody thought that a holiday with bright lights and decorations would keep people from becoming depressed from winter.
Actually, there is more to this than, relief of depression, someone was thinking of the Light of The World, if embrassed would bring happiness to ALL.......History of Christmas.......The practice of putting lights on thetree came from Martin Luther. One night as Luther was walking home he was inspired by the moonlight shining through the boughs of a fir tree. Once he arrived home he put candles in his Christmas tree. This came to symbolize Jesus being the Light of the World.

Businesses have EVERY right to dictate how their employees interact with customers...don't like it? Change jobs.
Otherwise what some company makes their employees do doesn't affect YOU in ANY WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Way too far" ??? What does that mean....why is that so important to you? 'Way too far" with a seasonal greeting!?
You have no real problems I take it???
The people who INSIST others say what THEY want instead of what others are FREE to say do NOT have the Christmas/christian/human spirit at all..... so what if some stranger says, "Happy Holidays"...you really HATE the thought that someone wished you well????
If those who ONLY want to celebrate that one flaky stupid day in December then THEY should stay home until it's over !

Well I love Christmas. Favorite time of the year. I like Santa, getting together with the family, Christmas movies, Christmas songs etc. I really don't care what other people call it. Does not change anything for me.

When I worked on a switchboard I was given scripts of what to say when I answerd the phones. My sons employer does the same, and sometimes the script is lengthy but that's what the job is..doing what the bosses want. Companies put thought into that sort of thing, and don't want each employee winging it, they want to project a unified message. If it's "Happy Holidays" I don't see a problem. If I was the boss I wouldn't have my employees say squat, they would just do their jobs as if there was no holiday and avoid the issue altogether.
If you need a sales clerk to validate your religion then you have a problem. And if someone offers you a niceity you better accept it politely or you are a jerk. END.OF.STORY.

Yep. Just roll with it. Nicety is in short supply as it is.
