The US Diplomatic Leaks: A Superpower's View of the World - SPIEGEL ONLINE - News - International

Quote:
The development is no less than a political meltdown for American foreign policy.

Never before in history has a superpower lost control of such vast amounts of such sensitive information -- data that can help paint a picture of the foundation upon which US foreign policy is built. Never before has the trust America's partners have in the country been as badly shaken.
This is truly astounding, dangerous and very embarrassing. Who could have envisioned such a complete debacle from the supposed man and his administration that set out to "repair" all those relationships he claimed needed resetting?

Possibly, his foreign policy is even worse than his domestic, economic policy.

Our great country is being humiliated on the world stage at every turn due to his incompetence.

Humiliated on the world stage at every turn due to his incompetence, kinda describes the LAST POTUS doesn't it Serene?
Kind tough being awake 24/7 to find every little thing you can from A-Z on Obama, isn't it?

Steve

This unprecedented leak of hundreds of thousands of sensitive documents is just the latest in a long, long list of FP policy failures for this administration.

Rebuffed at the G20, embarrassed by China, Russia, Iran, sent home packing with nothing from Asia.....the list is indeed long and varied of the absolute mess the state of our FP is in under his watch.

Yeah, Wikileaks under Obama's watch is almost as bad as 9-11 under Bush's watch.

But the leak was legal. Are you suggesting Obama should have violated people's rights to stop this? Granted, it is what his predecessor would likely have done. Simply suggesting that this shouldn't happen, instead of actually doing something to stop it, is the correct line off action, constitutionally.

I guess the question is, which do you care about more. Your rights, or your government's secrecy?

Actually, Steve, your first sentence aptly describes our current President - Obummer.

And please, don't act like it is hard to find bad information on Obummer as there is a plethora of information readily available and easily obtainable on a daily basis. The man is a menace to the office of the Presidency, and society as a whole. Unfortunately, it is hard to get away from hearing about his ineptness, even if one wanted to....probably can even hear it in one's sleep.

I'm not embarrassed at all. Most of that stuff is not my policy anyway.
I don't feel humiliated either. My idea of a great country is not a muscleheaded idiot with big fists. How about yours? (You give yourself away much too often).
But if you want to go around and hang your head in shame, then enjoy yourself.

My idea of what my country should be like is just like my idea of what most American families should be like.

Proud, independent, self reliant, willing to defend our home and family, willing to help our neighbors, and keeping our business and secrets to ourselves.

But then again, I'm just a knuckle dragging conservative Christian, so my opinion does not mean much anymore, eh?

I must have missed the unprecedented, unauthorized release of hundreds of thousands of sensitive documents under the Bush administration.

How do you figure the leak was legal?

I guess this is obama's version of "smart power". We remember that, don't we? Another slogan and catchy phrase that has no semblance in reality.
