SACRAMENTO, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- California prison officials say they plan to test a system that blocks calls made by inmates using illicit cell phones, including the notorious Charles Manson.

Manson was one of a growing number of prisoners who have used phones smuggled into a California institution for unmonitored contacts with the outside world, the Los Angeles Times reported.

You would think anyone allowed to visit these inmates would be fully searched. Look what innocent (mostly) people go through at airports. These things shouldn't be missed by prison officials. If it's the guards pedaling contraband they should be given cells next to the rest of the criminals. No excuses!

Maybe the inmates shouldn't have visitors at all, then. I've always wondered how secure those arrangements were, anyway.

The poster above makes a good point. I have no problem with fully searching visitors to the penitentiary.

Besides, I thought he communicated telepathically.

In many cases, they are.

Prisoners don't usually get contraband from visitors.

They get it from corrupt guards.

I have a friend who is a guard at Jackson GA Prison. She says that cell phones are in almost every cell and the people that don't have one trade postage stamps and Ramen noodles for a call or text.
She showed me a video of an inmate that got arrested for "Crossing a guard Line" with a cell after he was out working on train tracks. It is amazing the ways that they come up with to get things in. It's not just the up the wazoo trick anymore. This guy had it hidden in his work cloths and the only reason he got caught was because he left it in the open later in the month.

He needs no communication with the outside world at all. I knew of Sharon Tate in the 70's her Sister lived in Palos Verdes Estates, i knew a family who knew them, That was so tragic what happened to Sharon, something awful. The people i knew who knew them, were struck by lighting sort to speak. A crime he committed, gets no pity from me in any way, he deserves not a thing. He is a monster to me.

Still don't trust this monster, and in his case, look at his eyes, he has not changed at all.

Still think more Security Guards are needed, and Visitors need to be searched from head to toe.

I thought cell phone call can be intercepted and listened to. Guess prisons need to have listening devices to hear what the inmates are doing and if they have phones.
