US tries to contain damage from leaked documents - Welcome to Charter.net

Seems like WikiLeaks is actually starting to hurt the United States with this stuff, the first round, sure we can say it hurt, and it might have, but we can't SEE results for telling the Taliban/Al Qaeda who our informants are, and where their families are located...

But now they leak our diplomatic views, strategies, and actions to everyone? These documents are classified because they are for certain people only... we talk to people differently based on our relationship with them, and SURE we talk about people behind their back BECAUSE NO ONE IS GOING TO TELL THEM WHAT WE SAID, most of the time.

In WWI & WWII these people would be tried for treason, and people (or soldiers anyways) who were tried and found guilty were shot.

So when can we say, This is actually hurting the USA and its YOUR fault?
Sure, they'll cry 1st Amendment rights, but there has to be a line...

The military has already admitted they have no evidence that anyone has been harmed by the leaks so you can stop with the nationalistic belly aching.

Also let me clue you in. Wikileaks is not "American" so they can't be found guilty of treason.....LOL

No one knows who leaked the information yet. As to prior information there is this.

Quote:
Bradley Manning, an Army intelligence specialist, has been charged with multiple counts of mishandling and leaking classified data, on suspicion he handed over to Wikileaks a classified 2007 video that shows a group of on unarmed men in Iraq walking down the street before being repeatedly shot by the Apache helicopters
As to the owner of the site releasing the information Julian Assange, he is not a US citizen and doesn't reside in the United States, so treason doesn't apply.

Oh those idiots whining about their Constitutional rights and all of that hippie B.S. Treason is an overhyped charge and really that's the stuff of Monarchy's. In today's world I don't see much of a place for it. There should be imminently more transparency. Besides I haven't heard of anyone getting hurt from these released documents.

Oh yeah and Wikileaks is a foreign website so treason doesn't apply anyway.

The US government is run by a bunch of crooks. They aren't worried about security and safety for you an me as a result of the leaks, they are worried about their dirty laundry being put on display for all to see.

If this had happened back in the day, Americans would have boycotted WIKI and any other site that threatened the safety of their country and family. We have power as a people united, but somehow that keeps getting lost in our inability to do anything other than hoping the government will do it for us.

I'm not sure what being gay has to do with anything (actually I do) but the actual charges against Pfc. Bradley Manning are violation of Article 92 (10 USC §892) failure to obey order or regulation, four counts and violation of UCMJ 134
(10 USC §934), and UCMJ 134 (10 USC §934), and 18 USC §1030(a)(1)Fraud and related activity in connection with computers of which there are 8 counts.

By the way, non of Pfc Mannings acts in anyway shape or form would rise to the level of treason as specified in the U.S. Constitution or espionage under U.S. Code. But having said that, Pfc Manning if convicted on all charges and specifications could be sentenced to a total of 52 years. I would like so see another 52 added on top of that just for spite, but that's just me.
