Your title is misleading. This WAS an Afghan police officer not someone just wearing the uniform. And I'm sure he has the sympathies of those he works with and the population at large for his actions.

Wow. Well, what should our response be? To drop another few hundred billion there to "build their society?"

We can't pull out because we have a spineless President who will not stick his neck out politically to do the right thing combined with a right wing Congress who would howl " terrorists sympathizer!" and " your letting the terrorists win!" to score political points.

As a liberal I sleep well at night knowing I did would I could to prevent this from happening.

Right wingers and spineless Dems....enjoy your war.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i have videos, to prove what i am saying, During the 08 Election Obama, said one of the first things he would do, is to order are troops out, within 6 months, had to video tape it, so that i could play it back, and see if he meant his words. No he sure did not.

I remember him saying in his speeches, if i become president, one of my first orders is to------- bologan bologna bologna. I am so over Obama, and him thinking that he is King.

Obama is frighteningly hawkish. Trust me, when i voted for him, i had zero idea that he'd be like this. He's listening too damn much to his generals who don't EVER want to leave.

I told people during the primaries, he's never had a record of sticking his neck out for the people who vote for him. Never. The only thing he's good for it turns out is campaigning and making great speeches with a smile on his face. Watch this next four years. He's going to waste it trying to get the GOP to like him by caving in to all their demands.

Wrong, Obama is doing just what he promised while campaigning, he is escalating the war in Afghanistan.
Those who believe otherwise weren't paying attention or were just too drunk on Kool Aid to care.
Trying to paint him as an unwilling accomplice to the GOP agenda is disingenuous at best.

As Obama removes our combat brigades from Iraq, he will send at least two additional brigades to Afghanistan, where the Taliban is resurgent. He will also provide our armed forces with the reset capability that they need. He will replace essential equipment, and he will ensure that our men and women in uniform get the care and support they have earned.

Who's trying to paint him as "unwilling"...he's very willing. When your highest principle is gaining political points you go with what works politically.

But the fact of the matter is the march to war is driven by right wing ideology.

That's what gotten 4000+ military killed for nothing and 1 Trillion+ squandered.

Don't blame it Obama tough guy. You flag waivers were all about this ego driven fiasco when it started.

Afghanistan is in the stone age. Something like 95% of Afghan army recruits cannot read or write and have never driven a car or truck before. Most village Afghans have not heard about 9/11, have no clue of global events, and think that the West are just invaders. Thoughts of bring democracy to this country are just a pipe dream. The best we can hope for is a warlord who is isn't working with, tolerating, or giving islamo-terrorists safe haven. An Afghanistan that gives safe haven to terrorists is not good for Pakistan or the west. That is why we must stay for now.
