If this is true (and that's a big if) the crime rate will go up again because the abortion rate is down compared to 20-30 years ago.

Because ordinary people aspiring to be a CEO can't afford the start up cost to purchase a license to steal.

The USA is safer today not because the criminals weren't born but because they are in prison. Keep in mind, our prisons are packed full -- which rules out abortion being effective.

Build more prisons, maybe we can get our homicide rates below 3% - it's worth trying.
No one has answered where we would get the money for more prisons. Please tell me because incarceration is expensive, prisons are expensive.

The crime rate dropped, and the percentage of incarceration went down from where it was expected to go.

We aren't a safe country, BTW. In reality, we rank 24th worst in the world for murder rates, behind some pretty awful countries.

Murders (per capita) statistics - countries compared - NationMaster

As a matter of fact, we are the WORST country in the world for overall crime rate.

Total crimes statistics - countries compared - NationMaster

Welcome to your safe country. If only we could lock up another half of the population. Its obvious that our crime policy hasn't worked.

You need to be more careful when you read data. US does have a high murder rate, but murder rate is not everything.

However, you are way off on total crime. A country with bigger population will have a higher total crime. You need to have crime per capita, and here US do decent. For violent crime US is not in the top 10 and for instance "peaceful" Sweden got a higher violent crime rate.
Spoiler

For total crime we can't really use nation master per capita data either because their crime data is obviously wrong. Is the crime rate of Ireland 4 times lower than UK. Does Greece have the lowest crime rate in Europe.

Those aren't even the real data, but the real data can't be compared because of different laws, but for instance Sweden had 14000 reports per 100K, while US only got 4500. So US is clearly not number one.

One thing the liberals fail to notice is that the War on Poverty is a major failure. The more money we throw at welfare programs, the higher the poverty rates.

Since prisons and longer sentences show they work to bring down crime rates, we should stop throwing money at poverty programs and use that money to build more prisons.

If you really want to compare countries, take a look at Mexico where drug dealers run free and are rarely prosecuted and all drugs have been decriminalized. Mexico's streets definitely did not become safer after drug decriminalization. In fact killers are rarely prosecuted, aren't kept in prison there. Mexico is an excellent example of what happens when laws aren't enforced and drug dealers are allowed to do as they please.

And if that's the case, why are the liberals on here complaining about too many criminals in prison???

Just because you expected a bill to be 900 dollars, and its only 700, doesn't mean you aren't out 700 bucks.

Obey the damn law! It's that damn easy. What you want anarchy? You just want to be able to do whatever it is you want to do no matter what impact it has on anyone else?
