To be fair, renters pay property tax also.

To your landlord. Just because you don't directly mail the payment to the municipality doesn't mean you don't pay it. All renters as well as homeowners pay property taxes.

A renter pays property taxes as much as a grocery store customer pays transportation costs for his/her groceries. If a customer didn't pay transportation costs, a grocery store would not be operational. Similarly, a renter does indeed pay property taxes or else the landlord wouldn't rent to the tenant. Glorified home renters (aka folks who have a mortgage) need to get that through their thick skull.

Oh yeah, I own my house outright, go pardon me as I get on my high horse. .

People who don't pay any federal income taxes should not be allowed to vote in the general election.

It shouldn't be based on owning property, unless you're talking about voting at a local level (here in NH, property owners pay the massive property taxes that fund government, so they should be the ones who get to vote and at least indirectly affect how their money is spent.

On the Federal level, voting should be based on paying taxes. If you don't pay federal income taxes, like 47% of the population does not, why in the world should you get to vote on how to spend taxpayer dollars?

When those who don't pay for government get to vote, they will inevitably vote to spend money like water. Spending Other People's Money is fun, addictive and limitless. Which is, incidentally, how we got into the catastrophic fiscal mess of government today. If you really think this can county can survive by continuing to borrow and spend, even after economists have realized we can never repay the $14 trillion debt we already have, then by all means support letting everybody vote. After all, if only the tax contributors got to vote, we would no longer have the statistically unbelievable 50-50 split between the two political parties that leads so many citizens to think they actually have a choice.

It's simple. A 20 question multiple choice quiz on the Constitution. Highly objective, randomized questions. Anything lower than a 15 score and you can't vote. Keeps ignorant hoodrats and rednecks who are brainwashed on the Dem/Rep side from participating. This isn't a democracy...it's a republic.

Libraries are freely available so no excuses about racist or prejudiced tests.

I completely agree. We are being ruled by an ignorant mob on both sides.
