Since the Wikileaks revelations we hear some people demanding the arrest of Assange. That he be tried for treason. Some even believe he should be executed.

It's the same people (usually Right Wingers) that pretend they are against big government and the government hiding secrets. But now they defend big government and big government secrets. Just a bunch of phonies. Demanding that someone be killed to keep big government secrets (shady deals and dirty laundry) isn't like freedom and democracy, but more like Mafia style revenge tactics.
Are you surprised that it's the Right Wingers that defend big government secrets?

No, I'm not surprised.

To me there is a fine line, between:

A) the government exposed doing something, or saying something, that is politically incorrect, or that it shouldn't have been doing in the first place.

B) the government's critical information networks being compromised, lives put at risk, and national security being impacted.

Your "freedom" fighter Assange released a document containing a list of sites VITAL for national security. This document can be used by Islamic terrorists to attack the US.

The right are against big government, unless it benefits them then it's ok.
The right are against spending, unless it benefits them then it's ok.
The right call for everyone's head on a platter unless it is a republican, then they will make up excuses the defend criminals and those in the wrong.

Assange said Obama and Clinton should resign. Do you agree with that?
Quote:
Assange told El Pais, "The whole chain of command who was aware of this order, and approved it, must resign if the US is to be seen to be a credible nation that obeys the rule of law. The order is so serious it may well have been put to the president for approval."

Assange has also called on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to resign her post.

Assange exposes some dirty laundry, shady deals, and government lies.
Al Capone wasn't too merciful if any member of his gang revealed secrets to the police.

A free society is based on the free flow of information about its government’s activities. IMHO most security classification is designed to cover up mistakes and/or criminal actions. This "Leak" does not seem to have compromised anything.

Now we need somebody to do the same with the high level financial deals that have helped destroy our industrial economy. Who paid whom for what needs to be exposed.

I agree with Tempest - Right wingers hate any government action that might benefit anyone but them and their upper crust financiers. The hate the poor but take government subsidies for themselves whenever offered. This is good business but morally and ethically bankrupt. That is no surprise.

Visvaldis - So the USGov is nothing more then a criminal gang? Then who are the police?

If the idiot wants to expose government corruption, he has the right too. I have no problem with that. I would agree with wikileaks supporters that it is important to let the world know that americans hold our government accountable for its actions. But how does releasing a list of targets for the Al-Qaeda help with that cause? All i'm saying is he should have not have released certain documents in the emails that could be very harmful in the long term.

Are you actually attacking the right for wanting to protect national security. Does that mean you left wingers do not give a hoot about national security. Under cover agents and targets and knowledge of where AL queda is and how and who we get information is all in danger. How would you like to be one of those inside AL QUeda about to get outed as an American helper.
Darn right right wingers want to protect the interest of the country , the question is why do left wingers want to damage the security of the country?

Does it matter to his defenders on the left that he has damaged our ability to be effective through diplomatic efforts? To get the help of our allies? That he has released information about vital targets? Do you really equate national security information with a deal between legislators to support each other's projects? Would you be willing to open the corridors of the State Department, the Pentagon, and the CIA to anyone that wanted to come take a look at the hard drives? Not all information is equal.
